We're underway in Oslo.
Joachim Low's men begin the defence of their crown in the Ullevaal Stadion, two years removed from their triumph in Brazil. Die Mannschaft will be eager to get back to winning ways following their semi-final defeat to France in the Euros, preventing them from holding both titles at the same time.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the World Cup qualifying clash between Norway and Germany in Oslo.
Norway failed to reach the tournament in France during the summer after losing to Hungary in their play-off clash last year. Per-Mathias Hogmo survived the defeat, but he and his side will have a point to prove by putting forward strong displays to reach the World Cup in Russia in two years time.
The team news has been announced and we'll start with the home side.
Both teams were in action during the week in friendlies, with Germany recording a comfortable 2-0 win over Finland through goals from Max Meyer and Mesut Ozil. Meanwhile, Norway were on the receiving end of a 1-0 defeat to Belarus as Sergey Krivets notched the only strike of the game.
Hogmo names a line-up with one up front this evening as Bournemouth's Joshua King spearheads the attack, closely supported by Markus Henriksen. Alex Tettey and Stefan Johansen will occupy the middle of the park, while Even Hovland and West Ham United's Havard Nordtveit anchor the back four.
Injuries have restricted Low's options for the contest, while Bastian Schweinsteiger played his final match for his country during the week. It's a much changed line-up from the team that defeated Finland as there are eight changes in total.
Manuel Neuer, Benedikt Howedes, Mats Hummels, Sami Khedira, Toni Kroos, Mesut Ozil, Thomas Muller and Julian Draxler all come into the team, with Gotze leading the line for Die Mannschaft.
The players are out on the pitch and the anthems are underway, so we the action should start shortly.
HALF-TIME: NORWAY 0-2 GERMANY
Germany have been extremely impressive in the first half and thoroughly deserve their two-goal lead at the break. Thomas Muller displayed his predatory instincts in the box to put his team ahead, and he was also involved for the second to tee up Joshua Kimmich, who finished in style.
Norway have had brief moments in the game, but Joshua King was unable to take the two chances that came his way. Per-Mathias Hogmo will want to see more urgency from his players in the second half to at least make an impact in the contest.
FULL-TIME: NORWAY 0-3 GERMANY
Germany begin the defence of their World Cup crown with a comfortable 3-0 win over Norway. Thomas Muller was at his best this evening to notch a brace, while also creating his side's other goal for Joshua Kimmich. Joachim Low will be delighted with his team, who barely put a foot wrong in Oslo.
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
Norway were not in this contest at all, having been outplayed from start to finish. Per-Mathias Hogmo's side's chances will not hinge on matches like this, but he will be desperate to see an improvement in their next round of matches.
