Luxembourg are finally able to win back possession and try to push forward on one last attacking move, but it fizzles out quickly as a poor pass fails to find Turpel on the edge of the penalty area and ends up rolling straight into the hands of Stekelenburg.
90' +2
The Netherlands are bossing possession at the moment but, unsurprisingly, they aren't in any rush to get the ball forward. They're remaining firmly camped inside their own half of the pitch, and Luxembourg's lack of pressing is making life easy for the visitors.
90'
The fourth official has indicated that there will be three minutes of added time.
89'
Dost almost makes it 4-1! Depay fizzes a low pass across the face of goal that looks set to find Dost on the edge of the six-yard box, but the striker is unable to make contact with the ball and it ends up bouncing over to the right flank and out for a throw-in.
88'
M. de Roon enters the game and replaces B. Ramselaar.
The Netherlands have made their final change, with De Roon coming on to replace Ramselaar and make his first appearance for the senior side.
87'
What an opportunity for Turpel to pull one back! Kerger cuts inside from the left flank and heads towards the edge of the box before firing a shot, but it deflects off a blue shirt and into the feet of Turpel. The striker is in a great position in front of goal and only has Stekelenburg to beat, but he completely scuffs his attempted shot and ends up missing the ball.
86'
Wijnaldum is sloppy in possession in the middle of the pitch and gifts the ball to Turpel, who then breaks forward quickly. The striker charges towards the edge of the Netherlands' penalty area before trying to find a teammate, but he's too slow and has the ball poked away from him before he's able to do so.
84'
M. Depay has scored a goal for Netherlands!
GOAL! What a strike by Depay! Van Dijk is clumsily caught by an outstretched foot from Chanot and goes crashing to the ground just outside of the Luxembourg box, resulting in another chance for Depay to test Schon from a free-kick. This time he does so, as a wonderful curling strike from the Manchester United man beats the wall before finding the bottom left-hand corner of the net.
82'
V. Thill enters the game and replaces S. Bensi.
Luxembourg have made their final alteration of the game, with Bensi making way for Vincent Thill.
80'
A swinging cross from Depay flies towards the near post and almost finds Dost in a great position in front of goal, but Malget sticks out a foot to stop the ball from reaching the striker and Luxembourg are able to hold on once again.

Description
78'
It's all the Netherlands at the moment, but Luxembourg are doing well to press them in the middle of the pitch. As a result, the visitors are largely thumping hopeful long passes forward that aren't causing too many problems for the hosts' back line.
76'
Berghuis flies into the left-hand side of the Luxembourg box on a great run before shooting from a tight angle, but Schon is just about able to get a hand on the ball to tip it over the crossbar and out for a corner that the home side successfully deal with.
75'
K. Kerger enters the game and replaces D. da Mota.
Luxembourg have made their second change of the night, with Kerger coming on to replace Mota.
74'
A great sliding tackle from Malget dispossesses Berghuis and allows Luxembourg to counter quickly. They're unable to fully take advantage of the opportunity to get forward, however, as a poor pass from Mahmutovic ends up rolling harmlessly out of play for a goal-kick.
72'
Depay goes close! A lovely lofted pass flies over the top of the Luxembourg defence and finds Depay in a great position inside the penalty area, but he takes slightly too long to get the ball out from under his feet and, once he does, Malget is able to scoop it away from danger.
70'
Depay is clipped from behind as he races down the left wing and wins the visitors another free-kick. Once again, he decides to take it shoot, but, once again, his effort is a poor one and fails to trouble Schon.
68'
Wonderful goalkeeping by Schon! Ramselaar flies through a sea of Luxembourg players and enters the penalty area before going one-on-one with Schon, but the goalkeeper quickly darts out and pounces on the ball before the midfielder can shoot.
66'
Berghuis twists and turns just outside of the Luxembourg penalty area before being pushed to the ground by Mutsch, resulting in a free-kick for the Netherlands in a dangerous position. Depay steps up and shoots, but his effort fails to beat the wall of white shirts in front of him.
64'
Great opportunity for Depay! The Manchester United man weaves his way into the left-hand side of the Luxembourg box before firing a thumping strike from 10 yards out, but there's slightly too much power behind the effort and it ends up sailing over the top of the crossbar.
62'
Dost breaks through the Luxembourg back line before latching on to a lovely pass forward, but, not for the first time this evening, his run is slightly mistimed and the linesman's flag is quickly raised as soon as he makes contact with the ball.
60'
D. Blind gets yellow.
After dealing with the danger, Luxembourg try to break away on a quick counter-attack. It's quickly brought to an end, however, as Blind commits a clumsy challenge that results in him being shown a yellow card.
And now Dost goes close! The ball pinballs around the penalty area as Luxembourg struggle to clear it, but just as it looks as if Dost is going to be able to poke the ball into the back of the net from the edge of the six-yard box, Schon rushes out to deal with the danger.
58'
M. Depay has scored a goal for Netherlands! Assist by D. Blind.
Blind did well to get himself into a good position after flying down the left wing, but Chanot arguably should have done better to deal with Depay, who was able to rise above the defender far too easily.
GOAL! The Netherlands are back in front! A deflected cross from Blind loops into the middle of the Luxembourg penalty area and finds Depay, who rises high above Chanot before beating Schon with a bullet header from close range.
57'
Bensi breaks into the visitors' half of the pitch on a marauding run before being tripped over by Bruma, resulting in a free-kick for Luxembourg in a dangerous position. It's chipped into the penalty area and finds the striker once again, but he's unable to link up with Turpel after doing well to meet the ball.
56'
The resulting corner is sent short before another dangerous cross is fired over to the far post. This time, it's Van Dijk who rises high and does well to meet the ball, but he's unable to guide his effort on target and ends sending it bouncing wide of the goal.
55'
Vital interception by Mota! A looping cross flies over to the far post and almost finds Berghuis just a yard or so in front of goal, but just as he's about to send a bullet header towards goal, he's beaten to the ball by Mota at the last possible moment.
53'
Depay, who has looked bright since coming on to the pitch, gets himself into a good position deep down the left flank before once again trying to fire a low cross towards Dost. He's unable to, however, and Luxembourg do well to deal with the danger before thumping the ball up the pitch.
51'
S. Bensi gets yellow.
Bensi receives the ball just inside the Netherlands half of the pitch but ends up losing it due to a poor first touch. He then battles with Wijnaldum and ends up dragging the midfielder to the ground, resulting in him receiving the second yellow card of the night.
49'
Depay battles his way down the left flank as he tries to weave his way into the Luxembourg penalty area, but Mahmutovic does well to stay tight on the subtitute and is able to dispossess the Manchester United man before he can send a cross into the middle of the box.
47'
What a save by Schon! A looping cross from Blind flies straight on to the head of Klaassen, but, somehow, the midfielder's downward header fails to beat the Luxembourg goalkeeper in the middle of the goal.
46'
S. Berghuis enters the game and replaces A. Robben.
M. Depay enters the game and replaces W. Sneijder.
The Netherlands have made a double substitution. Interestingly, the first player to make is Robben, who is replaced by Berghuis.
And we're underway once again!
And the second is Sneijder, who makes way for Depay.
45' +2
Mota causes further problems over on the left wing as he beats Brenet before muscling his way into the penalty area, but this time Bruma is there to cover the Netherlands full-back before thumping the ball out of play for a throw-in.
45'
The fourth official has indicated that there will be two minutes of added time.
44'
Penalty goal scored by M. Chanot for Luxembourg!
GOAL! Chanot steps up and calmly slots a lovely shot past Stekelenburg and into the bottom left-hand corner of the net. Game on!
43'
J. Brenet gets yellow.
PENALTY! Mota breaks down the left flank and cuts into the penalty area before looking to shoot, but Brenet is all over the full-back and ends up dragging him to the ground, leaving the referee with no choice but to point to the spot.
42'
Poor play by Luxembourg midway inside their own half of the pitch gifts the Netherlands the chance to hit the hosts quickly, but as soon as Robben is about to shoot from the edge of the box, he's dispossessed by a great sliding tackle at the vital moment.
41'
And now Dost goes close! Klaassen does well to keep the ball in play deep down the left wing before firing a low cross towards the near post. Dost runs on to it and immediately tries to beat Schon with a first-time strike, but he's put under pressure by Chanot and ends up sending his effort wide of the goal.
40'
Chance for Turpel! Mota breaks down the left wing and penetrates the Netherlands' penalty area before fizzing a low pass across the face of goal, but Van Dijk is there to stick out a foot to stop Turpel's first-time shot from finding the back of the net.
38'
Dost initially seems to do well to slip through the Luxembourg defence before latching on to the ball on the edge of the penalty area, but his run is slightly mistimed and the linesman's flag is raised as soon as he makes contact with the ball.
36'
A. Robben has scored a goal for Netherlands! Assist by D. Klaassen.
GOAL! The Netherlands have taken the lead! The Luxembourg defence step up to try and play Robben offside but Chanot doesn't do so quickly enough, allowing the midfielder to slip into the penalty area and link up with Klaassen before firing a low shot past Schon.
That was lovely build-up play by the Netherlands, with Klaassen finishing off a great move with a brilliant first-time flick that picked out Robben perfectly.
35'
Dost and Robben link up well on the edge of the Luxembourg penalty area before the latter tries to tee up Sneijder, but his pass is overhit and is just about kept in play. It's then picked up by Blind, who immediately swings a low cross into the heart of the box, but Dost's attempted back-heeled flick fails to test Schon and ends up rolling safely into the goalkeeper's hands.
33'
Poor miss by Wijnaldum! Good build-up play by the Netherlands ends with the Liverpool midfielder in an advantageous position inside the penalty area, but he's unable to guide his strike towards goal and ends up sending his effort blazing over the top of the crossbar.
31'
What an opportunity for Klaassen! The midfielder breaks into the right-hand side of the Luxembourg box before seeing his close-range strike saved by the legs of Schon. He then tries to head the follow-up into the back of the net from close range, but the angle is too tight and he ends up sending the ball looping on to the roof of the goal.
29'
Chance for Turpel! Sloppy play from the visitors in the middle of the pitch gifts the ball to Luxembourg, who immediately counter quickly. Turpel initially struggles to control the ball but eventually do so before shooting from the edge of the penalty area, but there isn't quite enough power behind the effort to test Stekelenburg.
27'
Luxembourg move the ball around nicely as they embark on a rare foray into the Netherlands' half of the pitch. Mahmutovic gets himself into a good position down the right flank before trying to swing a cross over to Turpel, but, not for the first time today, Van Dijk is there to deal with the danger.
26'
M. Jänisch enters the game and replaces L. Jans.
Janisch seemed to twist his ankle nastily whilst trying to deal with Robben, and he's forced off the pitch to be replaced by Jans.
25'
Excellent tackle by Chanot! Robben is causing plenty of problems every time he gets anywhere near the Luxembourg penalty area, but so far Chanot is handling him well. This time he pulls off a great sliding tackle to dispossess the attacking midfielder just as he's about to pull the trigger inside the box.
23'
A half-hearted Luxembourg attacking move breaks down and the Netherlands immediately counter quickly. They move the ball around nicely before Blind picks up possession deep down the left flank, but he's immediately put under pressure and has to settle for a throw-in.
21'
So close from Van Dijk! The Netherlands win themselves a corner on the left flank that is whipped towards the edge of the six-yard box and almost right on the head of Van Dijk, but the ball ends up flying just a few inches over his head. Any sort of contact surely would have resulted in the first goal of the evening.
19'
Dost, who has seen little of the ball thus far, is finally able to test Schon after latching on to a header from Klaassen, but as soon as he makes contact with it, the linesman's flag is raised for a foul on Chanot in the build-up.
18'
A deep cross-field pass finds Sneijder near the corner flag on the left wing, and he spins quickly before picking out Blind. The full-back, who is in a pocket of space, then curls a lovely cross into the heart of the Luxembourg penalty area and towards Robben, but the Bayern Munich man isn't quite tall enough and the ball ends up glancing off the top of his head.
17'
Bohnert, who has arguably been Luxembourg's best player thus far, once again gets himself into a good position deep down the right wing after getting the better of Blind, but Van Dijk darts across the penalty area and out-muscles the wing-back before shepherding the ball out for a goal-kick.
15'
Mahmutovic and Bohnert link up brilliantly deep down the left flank to take both Sneijder and Blind completely out of the game. Bohnert then bursts forward and cuts inside before trying to pick out Turpel in the middle of the box, but his cross is slightly underhit and fails to find the striker.
14'
Luxembourg immediately try to hit the Netherlands on a counter-attack down the left flank thanks to good play from Turpel, but the striker is severely outnumbered as soon as he enters the penalty area and is unable to pick out a teammate, which allows Van Dijk to easily clear the danger.
13'
And now Wijnaldum goes close! The midfielder flies through a group of white shirts as he darts towards the penalty area, and as soon as he reaches the box he unleashes a venomous that Schon does well to parry away from danger.
11'
What a chance for Robben! Once again, the Bayern Munich man weaves his way into the Luxembourg box and links up with Ramselaar before testing Schon with a thumping half-volley, but the goalkeeper pulls off a great one-handed diving save to deny the visitors the opening goal of the game.
10'
Robben darts into the right-hand side of the Luxembourg box before firing a low cross-cum-shot off Schon and out for a corner. The set-piece is whipped into a dangerous area and almost finds Van Dijk in front of goal, but he's beaten to the ball at the vital moment and the home just about manage to hold on.
8'
Bohnert spins quickly over on the right wing and easily beats two Netherlands players before storming forward on a marauding run. He penetrates the visitors' half of the pitch and then does well to tee up Bensi, but as soon as the midfielder receives the ball he's dispossessed from behind and gives concedes a throw-in.
6'
Wijnaldum skips past Mutsch before being clumsily tripped over by the midfielder, who gives away a free-kick in a dangerous position midway inside the Luxembourg half of the pitch. Sneijder steps up and curls a cross into the heart of the penalty area, but there's nobody there to meet it and the ball ends up bouncing straight to Schon.
5'
Vital tackle by Bruma! Sloppy play from the visitors allows Luxembourg to pick up the ball in a good position before driving forward on a quick counter-attack. Bohnert cuts inside from the right wing and charges towards the penalty area before setting up Turpel, but just as the striker is about to penetrate the box, he's dispossessed by a brilliant sliding tackle from Bruma.
3'
Mota gets himself into a good position midway inside the Netherlands' half of the pitch before chipping a deft cross towards the near post. It almost meets Turpel, who is in a good position in front of goal, but Bruma does well to beat him to the ball before nodding the ball into the hands of Stekelenburg,
2'
Sneijder is bundled over by Mutsch in the middle of the pitch and the Netherlands are awarded a free-kick near the halfway line. It's taken quickly and worked over to Brenet, who then charges down the right flank, but Mota sticks to him like glue and does well to shepherd the ball out for a goal-kick.

And we're off! The Netherlands get us underway, attacking from right to left.
Good afternoon and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s World Cup 2018 qualifying game between Luxembourg and the Netherlands at the Stade Josy Barthel.
After this summer saw them fail to reach the finals of a European Championship for the first time since 1984, the Netherlands are desperate not to add to their misery with more disappointment in the build-up to the next World Cup. However, with France and Sweden both battling for a place in Russia as well, it’s certainly not going to be an easy task for the under pressure Oranje.
The Netherlands started the qualification process in good form thanks to a draw and a win against Sweden and Belarus, respectively, but last month’s 1-0 defeat against group favourites France means that they currently sit six points behind the Euro 2016 finalists. They also trail Sweden by three points, although a comprehensive victory today will move them above Janne Andersson’s men and into second place.
On paper, Luxembourg should be easy opponents for the Netherlands, but today’s hosts have looked sharp in recent months and arguably don’t deserve to be sitting bottom of Group A. Narrow defeats against Bulgaria and Sweden were followed by a well-earned draw against Belarus, meaning that they could cause a few problems for their opponents if they continue that good form here.
Nonetheless, Luxembourg are still without a competitive win since September of last year and have lost seven of their last eight games. They also haven’t avoided losing against the Netherlands in over 50 years, with their last draw against the Oranje coming way back in 1963.
Netherlands XI (4-3-3): Stekelenburg; Brenet, Bruma, Van Dijk, Blind; Wijnaldum, Ramselaar, Klaassen; Robben, Dost, Sneijder.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this afternoon…
Netherlands substitutes: Veltman, Vorm, Martins Indi, Zeegelaar, Vilhena, Berghuis, Clasie, Fer, De Roon, Depay, Luuk De Jong, Cillessen.
Luc Holtz has decided to make six changes to the Luxembourg side that started the draw against Belarus in their last outing, with Ralph Schon, Kevin Malget, Maxime Chanot, Enes Mahmutovic, Stefano Bensi and David Turpel all coming into the starting line-up to replace Anthony Moris, Ricardo Delgado, Christopher Martins Pereira, Dirk Carlson, Vincent Thill and Aurelien Joachim, respectively.
Meanwhile, Netherlands boss Danny Blind has made four alterations to the team that featured in Wednesday night’s friendly against Belgium, with Joel Veltman, Stijn Schaars, Jeremain Lens and Vincent Janssen making way for Joshua Brenet, Bart Ramselaar, Bas Dost and Wesley Sneijder.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
Brenet and Ramselaar are both set to make their first senior starts today after featuring in the second-half of the clash against Belgium. Both are highly thought of youngsters that will be looking to impress their boss.
HALF-TIME: LUXEMBOURG 1-1 NETHERLANDS
The home fans erupt with joy as the referee brings an end to the first half. Luxembourg certainly deserve to be in the game thanks to a solid performance at both ends of the pitch, and it was only one slight lapse in concentration that allowed the Netherlands to fire themselves into the lead. From then onwards, the hosts looked bright on the counter, with Mota, who would eventually win the penalty from which Chanot equalised, doing particularly well over on the left flank.
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half.
FULL-TIME: LUXEMBOURG 1-3 NETHERLANDS
The Netherlands look mightily relieved as they make their way off the pitch, but they certainly improved in the second half and deserve to leave with three points under their belts. They looked sluggish in the first period but increased the intensity of their attacks after the break, with Depay making a huge contribution over on the left wing. In the end, it was his double that would prove to be the difference between two sides that were even for much of the night.
