There will be two minutes added on at the end of this match.
88'
In search of his hat-trick, Robben makes a nice diagonal run to get on the end of an incisive ball in, but his poked effort is corralled by Olsen at the near post. He's been excellent tonight. If this does prove to be Robben's final game with the national team, he sure will be going out on a high.
86'
STAT: The Netherlands have scored 24 goals in their last six World Cup qualifying matches on home soil, including a 1-0 defeat to France in that span.
84'
Robben whips in a free-kick from the right and Dost, who has worked his tail off since coming on, does very well to meet it, but sends a header over the bar. Sweden have got the job done tonight, even if it wasn't entirely pretty.
82'
M. Olsson enters the game and replaces S. Larsson.
Sweden's final change sees Martin Olsson replace Larsson.
80'
Where do the Dutch go from here? Victory tonight is something for them to build off, but there's a long way to go before the European qualifiers begin. Surely there will be changes to their staff and management, sooner than later, as they attempt to correct the issues over the next year, which should present plenty of opportunities with friendlies.
78'
Possession being dominated by the hosts, but there's no way through for them at the moment. They win the ball back straight away after Vilenha sees a shot drift wide of the near post for a goal-kick, but they're struggling to get it into the danger areas.
76'
I. Kiese Thelin enters the game and replaces O. Toivonen.
Toivonen is replaced by Isaac Kiese Thelin with Sweden's second change.
75'
Advocaat's negativity has crept into his team now, showing little urgency to get forward and add to their lead as they pass it around patiently near the halfway line. That's just not going to cut it. Sweden are headed to the play-off, while the Netherlands will be watching the World Cup from home.
Minute
Description
73'
Nothing to like about these changes from Advocaat, who has already conceded the fact that his team will not qualify for Russia 2018. He's just unwilling to take the chances he needs to take with his side desperately in need of goals.
71'
D. Janmaat enters the game and replaces K. Tete.
D. Klaassen enters the game and replaces G. Wijnaldum.
A loud roar in the Amsterdam ArenA as Davy Klaassen, who spent many years here with Ajax, comes on to replace Wijnaldum for the final 20 minutes.
Daryl Janmaat replaces Tete with the final change.
70'
LASHED OVER! Blind plays with fire at the back, giving the ball away as he puts his side under unnecessary pressure. Berg collects and surges forward, setting up Forsberg, but the RB Leipzig forward fires over from 20 yards.
68'
G. Svensson enters the game and replaces V. Claesson.
Sweden's first change of the night sees Gustav Svensson replace Claesson.
67'
What is Advocaat waiting for? Unless he's given up hope and instead wants to simply focus on winning the game, regardless of whether it's enough for them to go through, they you have to wonder why he hasn't taken off a defender for one of Memphis Depay or Davy Klaassen.
65'
It doesn't look like it's going to happen for the Dutch. There was a glimmer of hope when Robben scored their second, but they will need to average a goal every five minutes over the final 25 to reach the 7-0 (or 7-1) mark they need to finish second in Group A.
63'
STAT: The Netherlands have never scored seven goals in a match against Sweden in 24 tries. They reached five on three separate occasions, in 1908, 1920 and 1974.
61'
Another incisive throughball, this one from Wijnaldum, has Babel running to meet it, but again Olsen is able to collect ahead of the attacker! It's a game of inches tonight for the Dutch, and while they're firmly in control, they're just not getting what they need. The margin for error was razor thin.
59'
Nifty interplay from the Dutch! Dost flicks a tidy header on for Wijnaldum, who runs inside his marker to meet it and send a first-time effort at goal, but it's disappointingly straight at Olsen! These really are desperate times now for the hosts.
57'
Dick Advocaat has some decent attacking options on the bench and it may be time to go for it, with five goals needed in just over 30 minutes. Davy Klaassen, Memphis Depay and Marco van Ginkel are all at his disposal.
55'
M. Lustig gets yellow.
Lustig is booked for Sweden, and while that doesn't mean much in this match, it has big ramifications for Sweden as he will be suspended for the first leg of the play-off should they get there.
54'
The Netherlands are getting into some excellent areas out wide to cross the ball in, and have an excellent target man in Dost to aim for now, but their deliveries are just lacking in quality. Another deliciously worked move sees Ake into an excellent position, but he has to settle for a corner as his cross is blocked behind.
52'
STAT: Sweden have not lost a World Cup qualifier away from home by more than a one-goal margin in 41 matches, since a 2-0 defeat to West Germany in 1984.
50'
Sweden are doing their best to slow the tempo when they get in possession, and Johansson does his part by winning a free-kick in the attacking half following some clever hold-up play, one which the visitors are in no rush to take.
48'
The Dutch start on the front foot, pushing the pace with every chance they get. Babel remains lively in attack and you almost get the feeling that he has a goal in him tonight. He sends a cross in for Dost that just eludes the striker, before nearly being picked out himself at the far post, but the ball goes behind for a goal-kick.
46'
B. Dost enters the game and replaces V. Janssen.
The Netherlands make one change at the break, but it's a like-for-like swap as Bas Dost replaces Janssen.
Here we go again! Can the Dutch pull off a miracle in this second half? They need five more...
45' +2
HALF-TIME: NETHERLANDS 2-0 SWEDEN.
45'
There will be two minutes added on at the end of this first half.
44'
D. Blind gets yellow.
Just too far ahead of Janssen! Another tidy ball over the top and this one so nearly sees the striker through on goal! Sweden are looking very vulnerable at the moment - they need to get this to half in a big way. If the Dutch can make it three before half, well... you can be the judge of that.
Blind becomes the first player booked on the night.
42'
STAT: Arjen Robben's first-half brace has pulled him into a tie with Dennis Bergkamp for fourth on the Netherlands' all-time scoring list with 37 goals.
40'
A. Robben has scored a goal for Netherlands! Assist by R. Babel.
Smart pick out from Babel there, who provides the assist.
GOLAZO! THAT'S TWO! Well then! Maybe, just maybe, they're in it with a chance still! That's an absolute bullet from Robben, who takes a pass from the left and rifles a blistering first-time strike into the top corner!
39'
DOUBLE SAVE! A tidy run from Babel ends in a blistering effort that Olsen does well to get across to at his near post. The rebound comes to Janssen, but his awkward effort is also stopped, and this time held on to, but Olsen!
37'
ANOTHER SHOCKING MISS! Well full credit to the Dutch who could easily have four goals to their name in this first half, which would really have made things interesting, but again they squander a glorious chance, this time Tete flashing an effort over the bar from five yards with the goal at his mercy!
35'
A rare opportunity in this first half for Sweden as Berg does well to beat Ake to a cross and head an effort at goal. It's a tame attempt, but he chases down the rebound, only for Cillessen to collect on the line just in the nick of time!
33'
STAT: The Netherlands have won 20 of their last 22 World Cup qualifying matches on home soil, keeping 17 clean sheets (D1, L1).
31'
DECENT HIT! Babel lines up a free-kick from over 30 yards and does well to bend an effort towards the bottom corner, which has Olsen diving across at full-stretch, but it drifts just beyond the post!
30'
Elsewhere in Group A, France lead 1-0 over Belarus. Should that result hold, Sweden would have no chance at first place, even if they could turn things around here - but they don't look like scoring at all, with their entire focus on damage control here.
28'
To have even a slight hope in the second half, it feels as though the Dutch will need at least three at the break. That would at least give them a glimmer of hope following the restart, with Advocaat then needing to bring on as much attacking quality as possible.
26'
HAD TO BE TWO! That's not a chance you can be missing! Robben's deflected shot falls incredibly kindly for Wijnaldum in the area, but the midfielder hesitates to shoot and Augustinsson is able to get a touch to turn it behind! When you need seven goals, those are chances that must be converted.
24'
Momentum is firmly in the hands of the Netherlands, but Sweden have plenty of bodies behind the ball. The visitors have shifted focus to defence, and since going behind they have done an excellent job of limiting the Dutch's looks.
22'
STAT: Sweden have never conceded seven goals in a World Cup qualifying match – the total the Netherlands need to get second place tonight. The highest Sweden have conceded is five, against Germany in 2013 and 1937.
20'
INCHES AWAY! Blind provides a teasing ball over the top for Babel to chase, and the Besiktas man finds himself behind the defence, but just can't get to it ahead of Olsen! Another warning sign from the Dutch, though.
18'
It's only one goal, so it's far too early to speculate about a possible 7-0 or 7-1 win, but it's a small step in the right direction for the Dutch. They have a long way to go, but that has certainly brought the Amsterdam ArenA to life.
16'
Penalty goal scored by A. Robben for Netherlands!
ROBBEN MAKES GOOD! It's a cheeky attempt, and one that's nearly kept out by Olsen, but it finds a way in and the Netherlands have life! That goal takes Robben past Ruud van Nistelrooy and Faas Wilkes for sole possession of fifth on the Netherlands' all-time scoring list.
15'
PENALTY TO THE NETHERLANDS! Lindelof makes a mess of a clearance, kicking the ball onto his own arm, and the referee points straight to the spot! It's a gift for the Dutch, and exactly what the needed to bring this game to life!
13'
The Dutch are starting to apply some pressure now. Some good width sees them put pressure on the flanks, and Tete's cross is met by the head of Robben, who lifts an effort over from 10 yards. Better, but not good enough for the Dutch who can't afford to squander many, if any, opportunities.
11'
STAT: The Dutch last scored at least seven goals in a match in an 8-1 win over Hungary in 2013. They have played 48 since without reaching that mark.
9'
Well there's the first shot of the match and it comes from that man, Robben, with a vintage cut in from the right onto his left foot, but his attempt to bend one it at the far post is read well by Olsen who makes a straightforward save.
7'
It's also worth noting that tonight likely marks Arjen Robben's final match for the Netherlands. The Bayern winger was in tears during the national anthem, certainly an emotional moment for him following an illustrious career that saw him guide the nation to two World Cup semi-final appearances. His 95 appearances rank ninth for the Netherlands, and his 35 goals are tied for fifth.
5'
Possession has eluded the hosts thus far, with Sweden spending the majority of the opening five minutes on the ball. Netherlands need seven tonight, at least, and they have yet to muster as little as a passing move in the attacking half.
3'
A free-kick for Sweden presents the first attacking opportunity of the night for either side, and the cross in from the right is met by the head of Granqvist, but he steers his effort wide of the target. Not exactly an inspiring start from the Dutch.
1'
AND THEY'RE OFF! Netherlands in their classic orange home strip as they get the match underway, attacking left to right.
Hello and welcome to live coverage from the Amsterdam ArenA as the Netherlands need a miracle to keep their World Cup hopes alive when they host Sweden!
When it rains, it pours. If it was raining when the Dutch missed out on Euro 2016, it's certainly pouring now. It's monsoon season in the Netherlands right now as they look all but set to miss out on a second successive major international tournament.
It’s relatively straightforward what the Dutch need to day – that is straightforward to explain, not to actually get. They aren’t at all reliant on results elsewhere, holding their own daunting destiny in their hands. You ready?
The Oranje need to beat Sweden by six goals or more, but also need to score at least seven goals if they only win by six. That is to say, only a 7-1, result or greater would be enough for them to snatch a place in the play-off away from Sweden’s unwavering grasp.
Sweden really have little to worry about, and will instead shift their focus to a potential upset atop the group. They trail leaders France, who host Belarus tonight, by one point, so a draw (coupled with a France loss) or a win (coupled with a France draw or loss) would see the Swede’s qualify for Russia 2018 tonight.
Dick Advocaat makes two changes from the win in Belarus, as Kenny Tete and Nathan Ake replace Daryl Janmaat and Davy Propper. It's not nearly as attacking of a side as was expected from the Oranje, who need seven goals tonight yet have pushed the defender Daley Blind into midfield in order to bring on another defender.
Janne Andersson takes the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' approach to his side, making no changes from the 8-0 rout of Luxembourg on Saturday.
Arjen Robben's brace, in what could be his international swansong, has the Netherlands 2-0 up at the interval, but it could have been much worse for Sweden had Georginio Wijnaldum, Ryan Babel and Kenny Tete converted their chances. As it stands, the Dutch need five more in the second half, as they're left to rue their missed opportunities.
Stark consolation for the Netherlands as they miss out on Russia 2018, but end their qualifying campaign on a high as Arjen Robben's first-half brace - in what could be his international swansong - helps them to a 2-0 win over Sweden, who secure second place in Group A and place in next month's play-off.
That's all for our live coverage, thanks for following along. Goodbye!
