FULL TIME! NEWCASTLE ARE THROUGH! The visitors finally get the ball into the right area as Sissoko chases it down in the corner, before the referee ends the match.
90' +4
Newcastle can't get out of their own half, but they are clearing everything Metalist are throwing in the box. Into the last minute in Ukraine...
90' +3
Villagra pushes forward, cuts inside and tries an audacious effort from 25 yards which Krul saves easily. Surely it's all over now?
90' +2
Metalist are camped in the visitors' half but still can't find a goal. Blanco whips in a cross from the left-hand side but it goes straight into the arms of a grateful Krul.
90'
T. Krul gets yellow.
Krul is then booked for taking too long with the free kick. We'll have five added minutes, but Newcastle have one foot in the next round.
88'
J. Cristaldo gets yellow.
Villagra pays it into the middle but Coloccini hacks it away. The ball comes straight back in through Sosa and Cristaldo goes in hard on Krul, earning himself a booking. The goalkeeper - who has made some superb saves tonight - had to gather at the second time of asking, giving the striker a chance, but he managed to smother the ball.
87'
Fininho gets yellow.
G. Bigirimana enters the game and replaces Y. Cabaye.
86'
Another save by Tim Krul! Willian gets on the end of a corner and flicks it towards the near post, but the Newcastle goalkeeper shows superb reflexes to keep it out.
85'
Cabaye is down on the ground after a challenge with Sebastian Blanco. It looks like a knee injury but the midfielder is back up and running.
83'
Marveaux shows good skill to collect it in midfield, but Newcastle can't keep it long as Sissoko fails to reach a pass. Time running out for Metalist to get back in this.

80'
Metalist really pushing for a goal now. They have a corner which flies all the way through to Jaja at the far post, but Perch gets in a last-ditch block to deny the substitute.
77'
Krul saves twice in ten seconds! Willian plays through Cristaldo, who finds the Newcastle goalkeeper standing firm and his shot is blocked, before the striker is denied a second time after diverting Cleiton's long shot towards goal. Superb goalkeeping.
76'
J. Perch enters the game and replaces V. Anita.
J. Gutiérrez enters the game and replaces P. Cissé.
Haidara finds himself at the byline and tries to pull a cross back, but it deflects out for a corner. Alan Pardew throws on Jonas Gutierrez and James Perch for Anita and Cisse before Ameobi is penalised in the air from the set piece.
74'
P. Cissé gets yellow.
There's a bit of shoving going on after Yanga-Mbiwa is tripped by Cristaldo after originally fouling him. Cisse confronts the Metalist striker, shoving him in the back and earning himself a yellow card.
72'
The hosts have to push forward now, and they are doing just that. Newcastle could have a chance on the break if they manage to hold firm in defence.
70'
Save by Krul! Substitute Willian has a glorious chance to equalise after the ball breaks to him on the edge of the box, but he can't lift it over the Newcastle shot-stopper who saves well.
68'
Newcastle have another chance to launch the ball in from a free kick, and Cabaye fires a dangerous cross towards the far post which Ameobi can't quite get on the end of.
67'
Jajá enters the game and replaces Marlos.
Willian enters the game and replaces J. Torres.
66'
Torres launches the ball towards the far post and Sosa meets it, trying an ambitious first-time volley which flies harmlessly over the bar.
65'
Metalist now have to score twice to go through. This will definitely finish inside 90 minutes. Newcastle are in a very strong position now.
64'
Penalty goal scored by Shola Ameobi for Newcastle United!
AMEOBI SCORES! We definitely won't have penalties now! The Newcastle striker steps up and hammers the ball down the middle to give the visitors a priceless away goal.
62'
PENALTY TO NEWCASTLE! It's an absolute howler from Gueye, whose pass back to the goalkeeper is well overhit and Sissoko is on to it like a flash, getting there before Golyainov who takes the defender out and concedes the spot kick.
61'
Torres gives it straight to Ameobi and the Newcastle striker releases Sissoko, who tries an early shot which drags well wide of the target.
60'
Haidara has his foot trodden on by Villagra and wins a free kick. Newcastle take it short and have possession again. Ameobi tries a header towards goal off Cabaye's ball in but Gueye is there to clear yet again.
58'
Newcastle really on top now, echoing the pattern of the first half. Cisse turns inside Fininho but can't find Ameobi with the cross and Metalist clear.
56'
What a chance! Marveaux gives the ball to Sissoko and darts away, receiving the ball back in the area, but his shot is wild and flies a long way off target. A first real break through the defence, there, but the chance is wasted.
55'
Simpson breaks free down the right and fires in a cross, which Metalist struggle to deal with and Ameobi nearly collects the loose ball, but Gueye gets there to clear.
53'
Cabaye is penalised for a foul on Cleiton Xavier, and the midfielder tries another audacious long-range effort, but it's the same result as the first-half effort as it flies way over the bar. Marveaux had a long effort of his own, firing a volley from 30 yards about as far off target.
51'
Cabaye's cross goes straight to a defender. The delivery from both sides has been pretty woeful so far this evening. But for some better crosses, we could have had some goals by now.
50'
Sosa gives it straight to Yanga-Mbiwa and Newcastle push forward. Sissoko tries to keep the run going but Fininho clears for a throw before Marco Torsiglieri fouls the midfielder on the right.
49'
It's a slightly scrappy start to the half, with both sides giving away possession. Cristaldo goes down while chasing a high ball but the referee waves play on.
47'
Two free kicks in quick succession add to the tally, before Marlos breaks down the right and fires in a cross, which Krul does well to snatch out of the air.
46'
The home side start the second half off, with no changes made by either manager at the break.
45' +1
HALF TIME! Another disappointing Metalist free kick is dealt with by Newcastle, and the referee brings the first 45 minutes to a close.
45'
Sosa's free kick is poor and doesn't clear the first man and Newcastle survive the danger. We'll have one minute added on at the end of this half.
44'
M. Haïdara gets yellow.
And we have the first yellow card of the match as Villagra skips past Haidara and goes down. There was minimal contact but the full-back was going at pace and the referee decided to get out his book for the first time.
43'
Another chance for Cisse as Sissoko floats a ball in from the left. The striker wins the header in the box and has a chance for the second ball, but the whistle inevitably gets blown once more for a foul.

Chance for Cisse! A lovely move from the visitors ends up with Ameobi laying off for the Senegal striker, who can't quite get it out of his feet but manages to force a save from Golyainov.

38'
Xavier finds Sosa on the left, whose shot deflects off Danny Simpson for the hosts' first corner. Cristaldo runs in free at the far post to meet Sosa's cross but can't direct a powerful header on target. Newcastle get away with some poor marking.
36'
Less than ten minutes left in the half, and both sides have enjoyed decent spells. That Cristaldo header was the best chance we've seen so far, with neither side creating very much so far.
34'
Coloccini concedes another free kick on Cristaldo, who seems to be taking advantage of the defender's strong challenges. Villagra's cross doesn't clear the first man and eventually the visitors manage to clear.
32'
The hosts are definitely improving now. The hosts break forward and Sosa tries a long-range effort which flies well wide of the target. Newcastle's early dominance is just fading away for the moment.
31'
There are a few signs of a momentum swing, here, as Villagra fires in a low cross but Yanga-Mbiwa scrambles across to clear.
29'
Chance for Metalist! Commentator's curse strikes as Cristaldo gets on the end of Marlos' excellent cross and nods towards goal, but it skips just wide of Krul's post.
27'
The referee isn't helping the flow of this game. We've got fouls being given very regularly at the moment. Newcastle look pretty comfortable so far, though.
26'
Newcastle have yet another free kick in a dangerous position after the ball hits a Metalist arm. Cabaye whips it in from the right but Golyainov manages to scramble it away.
24'
Gueye's back pass goes straight out for a corner and Ameobi goes up for the cross, but the referee blows for a foul. Not sure what for, however. The foul count is very high already.
23'
Villagra hammers a long throw forward and Coloccini is penalised in the air when challenging Cristaldo. Metalist's right-back then takes the free kick but gives it straight to Krul.
21'
Excellent slide from Cabaye to stop Juan Manuel Torres' run down the right. He's had a big influence on this game already.
20'
Metalist are finally starting to muster some possession. Cristaldo finds Sosa who tries to skip around Yanga-Mbiwa with some fancy footwork, but the defender gets a foot in and clears.
17'
Plenty of whistles resonating around the ground, with Newcastle enjoying the majority of possession. Ameobi manages to get a shot away from 25 yards; it deflects off a defender and rolls just wide of the post.
16'
A chance! Sort of. Cabaye swings a delightful ball into the path of Sissoko, and the midfielder cuts inside to drive a low shot towards goal, but it's disappointingly tame and Goryainov isn't troubled by it.
14'
Cisse tries to find Marveaux with a downward header but it comes off a defender. The striker - playing wide tonight - has another attempt but can't find a man and eventually Anita concedes a foul.
13'
Villagra takes out Haidara and is possibly lucky to escape with a talking-to. Newcastle will be pleased with their start but it's an ill-disciplined affair so far.
11'
Plenty of fouls being given early on. Newcastle have another but Cabaye fires it straight down the throat of Oleksandr Goryainov. At the other end, Fabricio Coloccini fouls Cristaldo and Cleiton Xavier tries to score from the set-piece 40 yards out, blasting the ball well over the bar.
9'
Anita is dispossessed out wide and eventually fouls Edmar just inside his own half. Fininho's long ball in is disappointing, though, and the visitors manage to clear.
8'
Alan Pardew's side have started stroking the ball around well, here. Sylvain Marveaux tries to spring the offside trap and latch on to Vurnon Anita's chipped pass but the flag goes up.
7'
The game hasn't really got going yet, and there's a little break as Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa goes down off the ball after clashing with Cristaldo. Nothing is given though and Newcastle have possession.
4'
Ameobi is brought down in midfield and Yohan Cabaye lofts a ball into the box, but Papa Gueye is there to clear and win a throw deep inside Metalist's own half.
2'
Early chance for Shola Ameobi as he skips past Cristian Villagra on the left and squares into the box looking for Papiss Cisse but it's cleared by the hosts.

We're underway in Kharkiv as Newcastle kick the game off.
Hello and welcome to our play-by-play coverage of this Europa League second leg clash between Metalist Kharkiv and Newcastle. I'm Tom McKeown and I'll be here to guide you through the match action as both sides aim for a place in the last 16.
It's interestingly poised, this one, after a 0-0 draw on Tyneside. Papiss Cisse had two goals disallowed for the Mapgies but they will feel they can get a goal here this evening. Anyway, let's take a look at the teams, shall we?
So, five changes for the visitors, with Massadio Haidara making his debut after his move from Nancy. Can they sneak their way through tonight, or will the Ukrainian side prevail on their own turf? Newcastle need a win or a scoring draw, whereas the hosts simply have to win. Finish 0-0, and they'll have extra time and possibly penalties to contend with.
It's a chilly night in Kharkiv, with temperatures below freezing in Ukraine already. Before long the Newcastle players will be pining for the comparably-tropical temperatures of the north east...
Not long to go until kick off, then. The players are on their way out of the tunnel, and there are plenty of gloves on show.
Apparently there has never been a penalty shootout in the Europa League in its current format. Will that change tonight? A goal for either side will guarantee there isn't, and it would be a surprise if neither net bulged tonight.
It hasn't been the prettiest of matches so far. It's been a stop-start affair with plenty of infringements, but Newcastle will, overall, be the happier of the two sides.
If things stay as they are, we'll be on for extra time. Cristaldo had two excellent chances in the air for the hosts but failed, while Cisse has looked threatening at the other end. Surely this tie won't end goalless after three hours of football?
Elsewhere, defending champions Atletico Madrid are out. Their 1-0 win at Rubin Kazan wasn't enough to overturn their 2-0 defeat in the first leg. In France, Lyon are 1-0 up at home to Tottenham. That's 2-2 on aggregate but the Ligue 1 side are through on away goals as it stands.
Right, we're moments away from the restart in Ukraine. Who will make it into the last 16?
Shola Ameobi's penalty has proved enough for Alan Pardew's men, who will feel they deserved to go through. They weathered the storm from the home side when they had to, and took the chance when it was given. They probably should have been out of sight from the first leg but they did the job tonight.
Right, that's all from me tonight. Thanks for joining me tonight. Don't forget to stay with Goal.com for all the reaction, and there are plenty more matches going on this evening. But, from me, it's goodnight!
