There is the final whistle! Inter progress to the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia!
89'
G. Puşcaş enters the game and replaces M. Icardi.
88'
Mancini follows up the goal with a pair of substitutions. Dodo is replaced by Obi and Icardi makes way for Puscas.
87'
M. Icardi has scored a goal for Inter Milan!
Kovacic spots D'Ambrosio in acres of space on the right side of the box, but the full-back fails to stay in an onside position before the pass is played to him. The flag goes up on the near side and the fans voice their disapproval at his failure to hold his run.
GOOOOOAAAAL!! ICARDI WRAPS IT UP! De Silvestri attempts to pass all the way back to Romero from the halfway line, but he doesn't spot the striker lurking in behind the defence. The Argentine darts across and beats the keeper to the ball, rounding him and sliding it into the vacant net!
85'
Inter work the ball to Kuzmanovic in space 20 yards from goal, but he takes too long to pull the trigger and Duncan gets in the way to ensure Romero can gather the effort comfortably.
83'
STAT: Roberto Mancini has won the Coppa Italia a whopping 10 times. He lifted the trophy on six occasions as a player and has followed up with four triumps as a coach.
81'
Sampdoria have shown no signs of finding the net in this second half, but Inter need to avoid becoming complacent in these late stages. Okaka has looked a threat on the few occasions he's received possession around their penalty area.
79'
Mancini brings Shaqiri's night to an early conclusion, and he goes off to a great ovation as he is replaced by Bonazzoli.
78'
F. Bonazzoli enters the game and replaces X. Shaqiri.
D. Gastaldello gets yellow.
Now Gastaldello goes into the book following his late challenge on Kovacic. He won the ball, but his foot was too high and it caught the Croatian.
77'
P. Wszołek gets a second yellow card and is sent off.
ANOTHER RED CARD FOR SAMPDORIA! Wszolek appears to lose his footing as he closes down Kuzmanovic but completely scythes the Serbian midfielder down. The referee has no hesitation in giving him another yellow card, which results in his dismissal.
Minute
Description
75'
Podolski dribbles down the left and draws a foul from Wszolek, earning his side a free kick just off the corner of the box. Kuzmanovic delivers it but the first defender, Duncan, intercepts it. He fails to clear it as he comes under pressure, though, and ends up committing a foul.
73'
Finally, the Nerazzurri have got their breakthrough, but they are not showing signs of a willingness to rest on their laurels. They continue to control possession and force Sampdoria deep inside their own half.
71'
X. Shaqiri has scored a goal for Inter Milan!
GOOOOOOAAAAL!! BRILLIANT FINISH FROM SHAQIRI! The Swiss caps his first start for his new club with a goal! He follows his pass to Podolski, who holds off Gastaldello inside the box to flick the ball back into his path. The former Bayern man then uses his left foot to sweep a shot past Romero for the opening goal.
70'
Sampdoria are not pressing Inter until they get to within 25 yards of their goal, instead packing bodies across the line to force the hosts to shoot from distance. The visitors manage to get away from their own goal for a short while, but Gastaldello can only manage a weak header straight at Carrizo from a cross.
68'
Sampdoria are back to having 10 men on the pitch as De Silvestri is introduced in place of the departed Rizzo.
67'
L. De Silvestri enters the game and replaces L. Rizzo.
66'
Shaqiri sends a tame effort from the right side of the box into the arms of Romero, but Inter felt they should have had a penalty moments before as Silvestre sent Podolski to ground in the box. The keeper kicks the ball into touch as Rizzo goes down ahead of what will be Sampdoria's final change.
65'
Inter's pressure is relentless, but despite creating numerous openings by moving the ball from wing to wing, they remain unable to find a finish to open the scoring. Mancini may look to his bench shortly if things don't change. He will want to avoid extra time.
63'
Shaqiri is booked for simulation! The Inter man doesn't have any complaints as he is shown a yellow card for going to ground inside the box despite no contact under pressure from Duncan.
62'
X. Shaqiri gets yellow.
61'
Shaqiri bends the free kick to the near post, where it is headed behind for a corner. The former Bayern Munich man takes it short before feeding Podolski 25 yards from goal. The German has a crack at goal but skews his effort wide of the target.
60'
A. Romagnoli gets yellow.
Okaka uses his strength to get in behind Andreolli and latch onto a pass inside the box, but he is forced to turn back and he eventually loses the ball. Inter break down the right and Shaqiri wins a free kick as he is blocked by Romagnoli when cutting in from the right wing.
58'
OVER THE TOP THIS TIME! Dodo's deflected cross finds Icardi inside the box but, with his back to goal, he opts to take a touch and tee up Kovacic. The Croatian slips as he strikes the ball, firing his attempt high above the crossbar.
56'
JUST WIDE! Icardi pulls off an audacious backheel inside the box, picking out Kovacic to the right of the penalty spot. He arrows a shot towards the bottom corner but it takes a deflection and shades the outside of the far upright!
55'
The corner eventually comes in but Duncan is unable to divert his effort on target. Inter move the ball up the other end of the pitch and Dodo returns to the action. He is soon faced up again by Rizzo, but this time the Blucerchiati midfielder gets his cross into the box. It finds the head of Okaka but he's unable to steer the ball goalwards.
53'
Dodo has gone down after blocking Rizzo's cross from the byline with his knee. I struggle to see how he's got an injury from that, it wasn't even a hard delivery!
52'
Wszolek fails to deal with a cross from the right and simply loops the ball up in the air inside the box. Podolski brings it down but before he can get a shot away Rizzo nips in to clear the threat.
50'
Inter have picked up where they left off in the first half, popping the ball about nicely and pulling the Sampdoria defence around the pitch. It is sent out to Podolski on the left and he earns a corner by driving to the byline. The set-piece is cleared as far as Shaqiri, who rifles an effort narrowly wide of the upright from 25 yards!
48'
Marchionni clips a long pass over the defence for Okaka to chase, but the striker is flagged offside. The referee allows play to continue and Carrizo uses that to take his time over picking up the loose ball, forcing the Blucerchiati man to close him down.
46'
A. Duncan enters the game and replaces R. Soriano.
We are back underway!
OVER THE TOP! Kuzmanovic's attempted cross from the right is deflected to the feet of Icardi 20 yards from goal, and his attempt to pick out the top corner with a curled effort goes high of the target.
45' +2
There is the half-time whistle!
45' +1
M. Silvestre enters the game and replaces F. Cacciatore.
As Marchionni trots back onto the pitch, it is signalled that there will be two minutes added on at the end of this half.
45'
The corner is only cleared as far as Podoslki, and his thunderous strike crashes into Marchionni before going behind once more. The defender stays down, claiming an injury, and is forced off the pitch before the next set-piece. Silvestre is subbed on for the injured Cacciatore, though, so they aren't down to eight men for too long!
44'
GREAT SAVE! Romero is forced to backpedal and claw a header from Podolski over the bar after a brilliant delivery from Shaqiri. He could have send that back into the middle as Icardi was lurking!
42'
Podolski goes into the book for a rather unnecessary altercation with Wszolek off the ball. Meanwhile, Cacciatore has hobbled off the pitch with an injury. The visitors temporarily down to nine men, then!
41'
Ł. Podolski gets yellow.
40'
Cacciatore and D'Ambrosio contest a high ball on the near side, and the Blucerchiati man comes off worse. He goes down holding his ribs and the referee points for a free kick to the hosts. They play it back and along the defence before an eventual long pass is hit straight out of play.
39'
Mancini must be wondering how his side aren't ahead! They've played the majority of the half against 10 men and were awarded a penalty, but they are yet to find the net. Kovacic and Shaqiri have both been particularly vibrant, and you sense a goal will surely come if they continue to play in such a fashion.
37'
SAVED! Icardi fails to find the net from the spot-kick, sending a tame effort low to Romero's right. The keeper dives down and parries the ball away to his right!
36'
P. Wszołek gets yellow.
PENALTY TO INTER! A clipped pass into the box from Kuzmanovic is latched onto by Dodo, and he drives inside along the byline. He is tripped by the right-back and the referee blows his whistle, pointing to the spot and getting out his yellow card.
35'
Shaqiri receives the ball wide on the right and cuts inside onto his left foot. He attempts to curl a long pass over the defence for Icardi, but he swings it too deep and Romero comes from his line to take it in his chest.
33'
Mancini doesn't look too worried by what he is seeing from the touchline, but the longer Sampdoria can go without conceding the more their confidence will grow. That could make it more difficult for Inter to find the net, so a goal before half time would be a huge boost for them.
31'
Great challenge from Romagnoli! Sampdoria push men forward for a rare foray into the Nerazzurri half, but they lost possession and the hosts break. Kovacic slides a pass beyond the defence for the sprinting Shaqiri which draws the visiting centre-back across, and he denies the Swiss with a perfectly timed sliding tackle.
30'
The ball is being switched from left to right, continually by Inter. Sampdoria are staying compact and shuffling across the pitch when possession moves.
28'
Inter continue to mopolise ownership of the ball, but with Sampdoria sitting deep and squeezing the space between their defensive and midfield lines, they are struggling to penetrate through the middle.
26'
Sampdoria have asked Djordjevic to drop deep when they are without possession now, in order to form a four-man midfield with Soriano operating in a deeper role.
24'
Okaka's hold-up play has been vital to Sampdoria so far tonight, and it will remain that way with his team already down to 10 men. He's doing a good job of drawing fouls in order to relieve the pressure on his defence due to Inter's domination of possession.
23'
The first yellow card of the game is shown, and it is brandished in the direction of Andreolli. The Inter centre-back was overzealous in his challenge on Okaka and the referee hands him a booking as a result.
22'
M. Andreolli gets yellow.
21'
Okaka again brings the ball down inside the Inter half and looks to spin his marker with his back to goal. He moves across to the right before releasing a shot at goal from 25 yards which is held by Carrizo.
20'
Kovacic again shows great tenacity to pick up possession inside his own half and then charge through the centre of the pitch. He has Icardi or Kovacic to pick out ahead of him but he plays his pass between the two, and Romero comes out to collect it.
19'
Djordjevic is caught from behind by Andreolli on the halfway line and Sampdoria are awarded a free kick. It is played short and seconds later Shaqiri barges Cacciatore to ground in a late challenge. The visits are subsequently awarded another free kick.
18'
STAT: Inter are in their 66th Coppa Italia campaign and will be looking for their 200th victory in the tournament tonight. Their current record stands as so: W199 D82 L83.
16'
KOVACIC! Wszolek is caught in possession inside his half and Inter break yet again. Kovacic races through the middle but fails to guide a shot from just inside the box beyond Romero. The keeper spills it to his right but Icardi fails to convert from the follow-up.
15'
Well, there is no doubting that the red card will have an impact on Sampdoria's chances of progression tonight! They are going to be forced to work extremely hard by the Nerazzurri.
13'
SHAQIRI! The Swiss bends his free kick over the wall and it bounces just ahead of the bottom corner to Romero's right. The keeper gets down well and parries the effort aside.
12'
N. Krstičić goes off after a red card!
He was the last man and cannot really complain about receiving his marching orders. It's another free kick to Inter in a similar area to earlier, though this time a few yards closer.
RED CARD! The set-piece is quickly cleared, though, and the Nerazzurri spring forward on the break. Shaqiri releases Icardi, who is clipped by Krsticic in a challenge which warrants an early dismissal!
11'
Some great hold up play from Okaka sees him draw a foul from Kuzmanovic wide on the right. He didn't have many options on, and now his team have the opportunity to clip the ball into the box from a free kick.
9'
Inter are popping the ball around nicely at the moment, opening up spaces from which to run at the Sampdoria defence. After their latest attack breaks down Podoslki chases back to stop Wszolek storming forward, and he commits a foul in the process.
8'
The corner is hit low to the near post where Icardi helps it on. Andreolli attempts to bring it under control and get a shot away but he has possession stolen away from him at the decisive moment!
7'
Now Shaqiri comes inside and drives at the Sampdoria defence, earning his side a free kick 30 yards out in a central area. The Swiss takes it himself and his effort takes a slight deflection on it's way out for a corner kick.
5'
Shaqiri switches the play over to the left with a brilliant pass and Podolski holds it up to wait for Dodo's overlap. He uses the Brazilian's run as a decoy to run inside, where he sends a cross to the far side of the box which Cacciatore volleys clear.
4'
Kovacic wins the ball high up the pitch and quickly offloads it to his left for Podolski. The on-loan Germany instantly slides a diagonal pass in behind the defence for icardi to latch onto, but Gastaldello gets between him and the ball to shepherd it back to Romero.
3'
Kovacic, Icardi and Shaqiri all look lively in the opening minutes. The Argentine striker chases down a pass back to Romero and nearly beats his compatriot to the ball, but the keeper is just about quick enough to clear it away.

We are underway in Milan!
Hello and welcome to tonight’s LIVE coverage of the Coppa Italia last-16 meeting between Inter and Sampdoria at San Siro. The Nerazzurri lifted the trophy for the seventh time back in 2011 and Roberto Mancini was responsible for three of those during his first spell with the club. Recently returned to the helm, he must defeat one of his former sides for a spot in the quarter-finals. My name is Tom Webber, and I will be guiding you through all the action.
Sampdoria have defeated Como and Brescia in the previous two rounds. This is their first cup fixture on the road this season, and in recent times they haven't fared well; the Blucerchiati are without a win away from home in the Coppa Italia since 14 January 2007, when they beat Chievo 2-1 in Verona.
The pair have already met once this season, with the Nerazzurri running out 1-0 victors at San Siro. Mancini will be happy with replicating that result this evening and improving on the lacklustre performance in the 0-0 draw with Empoli at the weekend.
INTER TEAM NEWS: Xherdan Shaqiri makes his first start for the Nerazzurri as Mancini makes eight changes from their previous outing. Samir Handanovic is rested with Juan Pablo Carrizo handed a rare start in goal, and he has a completely new back four in front of him. Gary Medel, Lukas Podolski and Mauro Icardi are the only players to retain their places.
SAMPDORIA TEAM NEWS: There are even more changes from the visitors, with only Alessio Romagnoli and Roberto Soriano holding onto their positions in the starting XI. Sinisa Mihajlovic will not be on the touchline after being sent off two minutes before the end of the 2-0 win over Brescia in the previous round. Assistant coach Nenad Sakic will provide the inspiration from the dugout in his place.
Inter (4-2-3-1): Carrizo; D'Ambrosio, Andreolli, Juan Jesus, Dodo; Medel, Kuzmanovic; Shaqiri, Kovacic, Podolski; Icardi.
The two sides went head-to-head in the 2008-09 Coppa Italia semi-finals, when the Genovese outfit progressed 3-1 on aggregate despite a 1-0 defeat at San Siro.
The teams are making their way out onto the pitch, so kick off will be upon us shortly.
HALF TIME - Inter 0-0 Sampdoria: The visitors were reduced to 10 men following Krsticic's dismisall in the 12th minute, and the Nerazzurri have dominated since. A great performance from the Blucerchiati keeper Romero, which included a penalty save from Icardi, has kept the match level. Will the hosts go on to get the victory or can Mihajlovic's men get an unlikely result?
The teams are heading back out for the second half, which will begin in a few short moments. Duncan, on loan at Sampdoria from Inter, appears to be down to his kit and ready to come on for the visitors for the remaining 45 minutes.
FULL TIME - Inter 2-0 Sampdoria: The Blucerchiati were reduced to 10 men early on as Krsticic saw red, but they didn't open the scoring until the 71st minute when Shaqiri scored his first goal as a Nerazzurri player. Wszolek's dismissal put the visitors down to nine men, and Icardi exploited the shortage to double their tally in the closing stages.
Mancini's men will now take on the winner of the clash between Napoli and Udinese on Thursday. Next up, though, they host Torino in the league while Sampdoria will welcome Palermo to Genoa. That's all we have time for tonight. Thanks a lot for joining me, Tom Webber, and have a great night.
