What a strike by Vilhena! The midfielder goes inches away from firing in a late equaliser for the home side, but his deflected long-range shot, which had left Donnarumma rooted to the spot, bounces agonisingly wide of the near post.
90' +2
It's all Italy at the moment as they try to hold on to possession inside their own half of the pitch. They've only managed to carve out a few chances on goal in the second half but have defended resolutely, which has made tonight a very difficult one for the Netherlands.
90' +1
S. Verdi enters the game and replaces M. Verratti.
Italy have made another last-minute alteration, with Verratti being replaced by Simone Verdi.
89'
D. D'Ambrosio enters the game and replaces M. Darmian.

The Netherlands have made a late alteration, with Promes, who has looked bright tonight, making way for Steven Berghuis.
88'
Another chance for Sneijder! Italy are caught out at the back and allow a looping cross from the right wing to bounce down to Sneijder, but once again Donnarumma is there to deny the midfielder with another brilliant save.
86'
Fabulous save by Donnarumma! Sneijder almost fires the Netherlands back into the game with a great strike from just outside of the Italy penalty area, but he's denied by the outstretched limbs of Donnarumma, who does really well to tip the ball round the post and out for a corner.
84'
And now Parolo goes close! The midfielder is left in a pocket of space 25 yards away from goal and quickly unleashes a thumping strike, but there's slightly too much power behind the effort and it's unable to test Zoet.
83'
W. Sneijder enters the game and replaces D. Klaassen.
N. Viergever enters the game and replaces D. Blind.
And the second is Nick Viergever, who takes the place of Blind.
With just 10 minutes left to play, the Netherlands have made a double substitution. The first player to come on is Wesley Sneijder, who receives a rousing round of applause from the home fans as he replaces Klaassen.
81'
Fantastic opportunity for Spinazzola! The debutant bursts down the right flank after beating Blind and cuts into the penalty area before taking on Zoet, but the goalkeeper gets down really well to deny the wing-back a memorable goal with an excellent diving save.
79'
Darmian picks up the ball in a promising position over on the left wing before flying forward on a marauding run. He then tries to swing a cross into the Netherlands box, but he's unable to do so as a result of a great sliding tackle from Tete.

Description
77'
J. Toornstra enters the game and replaces G. Wijnaldum.
Wijnaldum has made way for Jens Toornstra in the Netherlands' latest substitution.
75'
Vilhena sends a clever pass up towards the edge of the Italy box, where it finds Promes in a pocket of space. However, like Wijnaldum a few moments ago, he's unable to weave his way past three defenders and another Netherlands attack is thwarted.
73'
The Netherlands string together a decent series of passes before Wijnaldum tries to charge towards the Italy penalty area, but he's quickly closed down by a group of white shirts and is unable to find a way through them before being dispossessed.
71'
Lens, who has impressed over on the right wing this evening, swings another dangerous cross into the middle of the box. However, once again, Rugani is able to get a head on the ball to stop it from finding Depay in front of goal.
69'
A. Petagna enters the game and replaces Éder.
Andrea Petagna becomes the latest player to earn their first senior cap for Italy, with Eder making way for the Atalanta striker.
68'
Big chance for Belotti! A chipped pass forward from Parolo finds Belotti inside the penalty area, and the striker controls it well with his head before spinning and shooting. The strike looks set for the back of the net, but Martins Indi is there to make sure it can't trouble Zoet.
66'
Depay is caught on the top of the foot by a clumsy challenge from Romagnoli, resulting in a free-kick for the Netherlands in a dangerous position 30 yards away from goal. Depay steps up and unleashes a curling strike, but it's sent straight into the hands of Donnarumma.
65'
Chance for Verratti! Spinazzola showcases impressive skills deep down the right flank once again before cutting a clever pass back to Verratti. The midfielder is in a pocket of space on the edge of the box and quickly unleashes a shot, but it's quickly closed down by Vilhena.
64'
Spinazzola is immediately presented with a chance to charge down the right wing before trying to set up Belotti inside the Netherlands box, but Hoedt is there to cut out the danger with a great interception on the edge of the penalty area.
62'
L. Spinazzola enters the game and replaces D. Zappacosta.
Zappacosta has made way for Leonardo Spinazzola, who follows Gagliardini in making his senior international debut.
61'
It initially looked as if Belotti had a worrying problem after going down holding the back of his head, but he seems to be okay after getting back to his feet. Torino fans will be pleased to see him smiling.
59'
It's been a decent start to the second half from the Netherlands, who are looking as energetic and determined as they did at the beginning of the night. As a result, they're pressing Italy well in the middle of the pitch and are limiting the visitors' chances to counter quickly.
57'
Excellent save by Donnarumma! A poor pass from Bonucci is cut out by Depay, who then tees up Promes inside the Italy penalty area. He takes on Rugani before firing a low shot towards the bottom right-hand corner of the net, but Donnarumma does really well to get a hand to the strike to stop it from resulting in an equaliser.
55'
A Netherlands attacking move breaks down, allowing Italy to hit the hosts on a quick counter-attack. Zappacosta does well to dart down the right wing before cutting inside and picking out Belotti, but the striker can't move the ball on to Verratti, resulting in the chance coming to a disappointing end.
53'
A. Belotti enters the game and replaces C. Immobile.
Italy have made their second alteration of the evening, with Andrea Belotti coming on to replace Immobile up front.
52'
Depay weaves his way towards the Italy box on another great run before teeing up Lens, who quickly fires a low cross towards the near post. It looks set to find Klaassen in front of goal, but Rugani is just about able to beat the midfielder to the ball with a vital interception.
50'
Kenny Tete and Wijnaldum link up well deep down the right flank before the latter curls a dangerous cross into the heart of the penalty area, but there are no orange shirts there to attack it and Italy are easily able to deal with the danger.
48'
D. Rugani gets yellow.
Depay beautifully spins round Rugani as he tries to kick-start a swift counter-attack for the home side, but he's cynically pulled back by the centre-back, resulting in the first yellow card of the game.
47'
The Netherlands start the second half in promising fashion as Promes darts down the left wing on a great run, but he's unable to pick out a team-mate inside the penalty area and loses out to a good interception from Parolo.
46'
T. Vilhena enters the game and replaces K. Strootman.
The Netherlands have made one substitution during the half-time break, with Kevin Strootman making way for Tonny Vilhena.
We're underway once again!
45'
Lovely play by Depay! Parolo is easily beaten over on the right flank as the forward cuts inside and darts into the penalty area. He gets himself into a good position and then tries to set up Lens, but he's unable to do so and has to watch the ball bounce into the hands of Donnarumma.
43'
Verratti attempts, and fails, to pull off a back-heeled flick on the edge of his own penalty area and allows Lens to swing in another dangerous corner, but this time it's Romagnoli who's there to deflect the ball over the top of the crossbar and out for a corner.
41'
It's not quite working for the Netherlands, who started well but are struggling to cause too many problems for a well-organised Italy side. The visitors have remained compact since the hosts scored their first goal, and they're looking particularly strong down the flanks.
39'
The Netherlands fall asleep at the back and allow Italy to pick up the ball in a dangerous position. Eder can't get a shot away so he instead pokes the ball back to Parolo, who can, but the midfielder's low shot fails to find a way through on goal.
37'
R. Gagliardini enters the game and replaces D. De Rossi.
De Rossi received a knee in the back from Promes as the two battled for the ball a few moments ago, and he's been forced off to be replaced by Roberto Gagliardini, who comes on to make his senior international debut.
35'
What a chance for Promes! Italy fall asleep and allow a short corner to be played to Depay, who then spins and finds Promes. The forward is in a great position just inside the penalty area and immediately shoots, but, under pressure from a group of white shirts, is unable to test Donnarumma.
34'
What a block by Bonucci! The Netherlands fly forward from the restart through Lens, who then curls a beautiful bouncing cross into the middle of the box. It looks set to find Depay in front of goal, but Bonucci does really well to tip it over the top of the crossbar with an outstretched leg.
32'
L. Bonucci has scored a goal for Italy!
GOAL! It's 2-1 to Italy! The resulting set-piece finds Marco Parolo, who then forces Zoet into making a great diving save with a glancing header. He can only push the ball out to Leonardo Bonucci, however, and the centre-back easily thumps it into the back of the net from a few yards out.
31'
A Netherlands corner fails to result in a chance on goal and presents Italy with an opportunity to break forward on a counter-attack of their own. Zappacosta does well to give the home side a scare with a thumping low shot, but it's deflected out for a corner by the outstretched foot of Blind.
29'
A poor pass from Verratti is cut out by Promes and allows the Netherlands to counter quickly, but, after doing well to bomb down the left flank, the winger is unable to find Depay over on the opposite side of the pitch and brings a promising attack to a disappointing end.
27'
Martins Indi hits the crossbar! A swinging cross flies right on to the head of Martins Indi and is nodded straight towards the roof of the net, but it's just an inch or two too high and ends up smashing off the woodwork after beating Donnarumma.
25'
Promes goes close! Klaassen, who has impressed during the opening 25 minutes, finds himself in a pocket of space midway inside the Italy half of the pitch before sending a lovely pass through to Promes. It rolls just past the forward's foot, however, denying him the opportunity to test Donnarumma.
23'
Another lofted pass is fired into the Netherlands box and towards Immobile, who had made a good run into the left-hand side of the penalty area, but once again it's slightly overhit and well dealt with by Zoet before it can result in a chance on goal.
21'
Almost a chance for Zappacosta! Leonardo Bonucci pushes past the halfway line before sending a beautiful pass into the Netherlands penalty area and towards Zappacosta. It looks as if the wing-back is going to reach the ball before taking on Zoet, but the goalkeeper is just about able to dive on it before the defender can do so.
19'
The Netherlands move the ball around nicely inside the Italy half of the pitch before Lens pokes a clever pass into the path of Memphis Depay, but the number nine is unable to reach it before Darmian, who then sends the ball back to Gianluigi Donnarumma.
17'
Darmian is dispossessed on the halfway line and allows Georginio Wijnaldum to fly down the right wing before swinging a low cross into the Italy penalty area, but it's well blocked by Romangoli and the Netherlands have to settle for a corner that fails to result in a chance on goal.
15'
The Netherlands seem to be enjoying themselves in possession whenever they push forward, but they're struggling at the back. Italy are causing them all sorts of problems on the break, and that could prove to be a recurring problem as the night wears on.
13'
Nervy moments at the back for the Netherlands! A low cross from the left flank should be easily dealt with by the hosts' defence, but, somehow, Martins Indi and Kevin Strootman get themselves in a tangle and almost allow Immobile to get a shot away from close range. However, the centre-back is just about able to poke the ball out for a corner before the Lazio striker can make decent contact with it.
11'
Éder has scored a goal for Italy!
GOAL! Italy have equalised already! A free-kick is thumped forward by Marco Verratti and poorly cleared by Hoedt, who can only nod the ball down to Eder. The striker takes one touch and unleashes a rocket of a strike from 25 yards out, and it's one that beats Zoet before finding the back of the net. What a response!
10'
A. Romagnoli is unfortunate, scores an own goal!
GOAL! The Netherlands have taken the lead! Klaassen showcases great skills as he weaves his way into the Italy penalty area on a lovely run. He then pokes a pass off Daniele Rugani and over to Romagnoli, who can't stop the ball from deflecting off his outstretched foot and into the back of the net from close range.
8'
Early chance for Eder! Immobile and Eder link up well once again just outside of the penalty area before the latter unleashes a low shot, and it's one that bounces just a yard or so wide of the far post after beating the outstretched limbs of Jeroen Zoet.
7'
Eder is left in a pocket of space midway inside the Netherlands half of the pitch and is quickly able to tee up Immobile. The striker is in a good position inside the box and looks set to shoot, but he can't sort his feet out in time and is dispossessed by Bruno Martins Indi at the vital moment.
6'
Ciro Immobile is sent crashing to the ground in the middle of the pitch and Italy are awarded a free-kick. It's taken quickly and sent short before a long ball is thumped up towards the penalty area, but the pass is a poor one and is easily dealt with by Wesley Hoedt.
4'
Vital block by Matteo Darmian! Quincy Promes cuts inside from the left wing and swings a lovely cross right on to the head of Jeremain Lens, who is in a great position in front of goal, but Darmian is just about able to get a touch on the ball to send it flying wide of the near post and out for a corner.
3'
After a patient start to the game from both sides, Daley Blind tries to set up Davy Klaassen with a lofted pass down the left flank. It fails to pick out the midfielder, however, as Davide Zappacosta is there to head the ball away from danger.
1'
We're off! The Netherlands get us underway, attacking from left to right.
Good evening and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s friendly game between the Netherlands and Italy at the Amsterdam Arena.
Dutch football is currently going through a crisis, and it’s one that has left a horrendously demoralised Netherlands side in poor form heading into tonight’s clash. Saturday’s worrying defeat against Bulgaria means that they currently sit in fourth place in their World Cup 2018 qualifying group, with just two of their previous seven games ending in wins.
The loss away to Bulgaria would prove to be Danny Blind’s last in charge of the Oranje, with his miserable 20-month spell being brought to an end just 24 hours later. U21 coach Fred Grim will be in charge for this evening’s friendly whilst the Dutch FA search for a permanent replacement, and he’ll be aiming for a positive result as his team try to bounce back from what has been an incredibly tough period.
In stark contrast to their opponents, Italy are enjoying life under Gian Piero Ventura and are riding high in their qualifying group. A comfortable 2-0 victory at home to Albania means that they remain unbeaten and equal on points with leaders Spain, and with almost twice as many points as the Netherlands have managed to muster so far.
Games involving these two sides have proven to be tight affairs, with Italy enjoying the better record in recent years. The last meeting - a friendly in Bari in 2014 - ended 2-0 to the Azzurri, and the Netherlands have only won on one occasion since 1978. That came at Euro 2008, whilst the last meeting on Dutch soil ended in a 1-1 draw thanks to a last-minute equaliser from Marco Verratti with his first ever international goal.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this evening…
Italy substitutes: Buffon, De Sciglio, Candreva, Insigne, Gagliardini, Astori, Meret, Spinazzola, Petagna, Sansone, D’Ambrosio, Politano, Verdi.
Italy XI (3-4-1-2): Donnarumma; Rugani, Bonucci, Romagnoli; Zappacosta, De Rossi, Parolo, Darmian; Verratti; Eder, Immobile.
Netherlands substitutes: Veltman, De Ligt, Viergever, Vilhena, Berghuis, Toornstra, Dost, Sneijder, Luuk de Jong, Vorm, Cillessen.
Fred Grim has decided to make four changes to the Netherlands side that started the defeat against Bulgaria, with Kenny Tete, Wesley Hoedt, Jeremain Lens and Memphis Depay coming into the starting line-up to replace Rick Karsdorp, Matthijs de Ligt, Arjen Robben and Bas Dost, respectively.
Meanwhile, Italy boss Gian Piero Ventura has made six alterations to the team that featured in their last outing, with Gianluigi Buffon, Andrea Barzagli, Mattia De Sciglio, Antonio Candreva, Lorenzo Insigne and Andrea Belotti making way for Gianluigi Donnarumma, Daniele Rugani, Alessio Romagnoli, Matteo Darmian, Marco Parolo and Eder.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
HALF-TIME: NETHERLANDS 1-2 ITALY
It's been an impressive performance so far from Italy, who, despite going behind just 10 minutes into the game, did really well to first equalise and then find a way in front. They've allowed the Netherlands to have a lot of the ball and have defended resolutely in an attempt to limit the hosts' chances on goal. This has allowed them to counter quickly, with Eder, Immobile and, in particular, Zappacosta all looking bright when they're able to do so. Ventura will certainly be pleased with how his side have performed so far.
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half.
FULL-TIME: NETHERLANDS 1-2 ITALY
The second half proved to be slightly less action-packed than the first, but it still treated us to plenty of interesting moments at both ends of the pitch. The Netherlands embarked on a good push forward as they tried to find a way back into the game, but, no matter how hard they tried, they struggled to get the better of a well-organised and resolute Italy back line, which remained firm throughout. As a result, Italy deserve to leave with a victory, and it's one with which Ventura will certainly be pleased.
