Roma did notch a crucial away goal in Donestk through Under, but have work ahead of them to progress. Eusebio Di Francesco's men initially suffered a hangover from their defeat, losing 2-0 on home soil to Milan. However, they've bounced back in style, defeating Napoli on the road with an outstanding performance to dent their title hopes. I Lupi eased past Torino last time out, sending them into the contest with momentum.
Goals from Facundo Ferreyra and Fred handed the Ukrainian outfit the victory in the first leg of the contest. Cengiz Under had put Roma ahead, but Paulo Fonseca's men were able to rally in the second half to bring a narrow lead to the Italian capital.

Shakhtar have recorded three victories on the bounce in the Ukrainian Premier League since their triumph over Roma. They brushed aside Zirka, Karpaty and Vorskla, scoring 11 goals in the process while keeping clean sheets in all three matches. Fonseca's side are in prime form ahead of the contest as they look to reach the quarter-finals for the second time, with their last appearance coming in the 2010/11 season.

Edin Dzeko scored the only goal of the game to send his through on away goals, with Cengiz Under's strike in Donetsk looming large. Shakhtar were impressive in both legs, but made the crucial mistake to allow Dzeko to fire home. Paulo Fonseca's men pressed late on, but failed to conjure a late goal that would have seen them progress. Roma did just enough to secure their quarter-final berth.
