Washington could've had a hat-trick. McNair whips another cross in and, again, the former should steer a flick-on by Ferguson past the keeper.
88'
Another chance arrives for Washington. The crossing from wide positions by Northern Ireland has been excellent, this time from Davis. Dipping and curling, the cross isn't headed home by the Sheffield United striker.
86'
It should be 4-0. A free-kick delivery comes in from McNair, Cathcart fails to get a touch, and Washington is unable to blast a follow-up volley beyond Haimov in goal,.
84'
Whyte has a chance to double his debut tally, lashing a shot at the back of an Israel defender.
83'
Northern Ireland’s last nine goals in all competitions at Windsor Park have been scored by different players (Ward, Washington, Boyce, Evans, Brunt, Magennis, an own goal, Smyth and Grigg). Davis, Dallas and Whyte have added to that run to make it 12.
81'
Israel come close to a consolation, but not too close. Peretz runs unchallenged towards the opposing penalty area before scuffing his attempt wide to the keeper's right.
79'
The Northern Ireland players are still matching the fans' enthusiasm with their effort.
77'
S. Ferguson enters the game and replaces S. Dallas.
A top night for Dallas ends with another round of applause. Ferguson comes on for the Leeds winger.
The home side have flipped the possession stat on its head in this second half with nearly 60 percent of the ball. That's the dominance O'Neill would've wanted.
76'
Everybody's up on their feet with Northern Ireland cruising. What started as a routine international friendly has turned into a memorable night of goals.
Minute
Description
75'
D. Glazer enters the game and replaces M. Dabbur.
Dabbur has had a miserable night in front of goal, now compounded by an injury. He hobbles off, leaving Glazer to take his place.
72'
Any intention of going forward has dissipated from the Israeli mindset, as Lewis gets in down the left but can't find a man with his cross.
71'
M. Smith enters the game and replaces G. Saville.
Saville has played well and gets a deserved standing ovation. Smith replaces him for just his second international appearance.
69'
Northern Ireland want more. That's definitely possible with Israel letting them play. Cathcart deserves huge credit for his mammoth long pass in the build-up to Whyte's goal.
67'
G. Whyte has scored a goal for Northern Ireland!
Whyte scores with his first touch! A teasing ball is played in from the left for Washington. He can't convert but the debutant can. That's not a bad way to start your career for the Green and White Army. 3-0.
65'
B. Bitton enters the game and replaces E. Dasa.
G. Whyte enters the game and replaces J. Jones.
C. Washington enters the game and replaces W. Grigg.
Big chance for Saville. The Middlesbrough midfielder sets himself for a shot 15 yards from goal, but the touch gets away from him on his left foot, causing him to slip as the ball flies into the stands.
Another sub for Israel as right-back Dasa heads to the bench. Bitton comes on.
Washington will offer a bit more pace up front. Grigg is subbed off.
The impressive Jones departs as Whyte comes on to make his international debut.
63'
Windsor Park is rocking right now. Who can blame them after seeing Davis and Dallas' goals?
61'
Northern Ireland have a penalty appeal waved away after McNair goes down in the area, before Dallas tries an audacious shot from near the touchline, 35 yards-plus from goal.
59'
A. Turgeman enters the game and replaces D. Micha.
D. Sabi'a enters the game and replaces T. Hemed.
And here comes Turgeman with wide man Micha leaving the pitch.
It's a double sub. The ineffective Hemed is replaced by Saba.
The hour mark is looming and Grigg is yet to have a shot. There have been signs that the supply lines are improving.
58'
Saville receives the ball on the left of the penalty area, tries a shot and drags it wide of the far post. Perhaps another assist was on.
57'
Turgeman is being readied on the touchline for Israel.
56'
Lewis is back on his feet after suffering a knock moments ago. He'll be hoping to maraud forward more in the second half.
55'
Israel try a Saville or two with looping crosses of their own. The Green and White Army's defence are equal to it.
54'
Before tonight, Israel were unbeaten in each of their last four matches against Northern Ireland, though three have been draws (W1). It's still 2-0 to the hosts as they look to end that run.
52'
Dabbur has just finished clutching his head after an aerial challenge from Cathcart. It looks like he's fine.
50'
Jones troubles the Israeli defence with his pace. His cross goes straight to the goalkeeper.
49'
Israel try to build something down the right but the quality isn't quite there from the visitors.
48'
Northern Ireland are threatening again at the start of this second period. Davis looks to get forward and connect with a cross from McNair.
46'
N. Kapiloto enters the game and replaces A. Habashi.
M. McGovern enters the game and replaces T. Carson.
O. Norwood enters the game and replaces C. Evans.
Carson had little to do in the first half. McGovern will probably be hoping for a little bit more action, as he aims to prove himself between the sticks.
It's no surprise to see a change in the Israeli defence. Kapiloto comes on for Habashi.
Sheffield United midfielder Norwood replaces Evans in midfield.
45' +3
HALF-TIME: NORTHERN IRELAND 2-0 ISRAEL
45' +1
Yeini gets a chance to atone for his first-half horror show from a free-kick. He can't make proper contact with a header and the danger soon ends.
45'
Israel kick off the restart.
43'
O'Neill's team will want to avoid a repeat of the first goal, where they surrendered possession for a spell soon after. We're close to the interval.
41'
S. Dallas has scored a goal for Northern Ireland! Assist by G. Saville.
Saville did well to get the required depth and height on his delivery, meaning Dallas had time to pick his spot and duly obliged. Northern Ireland are ending this half brilliantly.
Dallas doubles Northern Ireland's lead! Saville swings a looping cross to the back post and the Leeds United player calmy side-foots the ball back across goal, low to the keeper's right. Two great goals from the home side and it's 2-0.
40'
S. Scheimann enters the game and replaces T. Tawatha.
Tawatha is replaced by Scheimann with minutes to play in the first half.
39'
A. Habashi gets yellow.
Jones is well and truly chopped down by Habashi as he flies past on the wing. The centre-back lets the winger know he's there, and receives a booking for the message.
38'
Cathcart tries to hook a header back across goal from the ensuing free-kick but Haimov in goal easily claims it.
37'
Tibi tries to steal the ball away from Grigg, who controls the ball with his chest -- an illegal challenge from the midfielder, according to the referee.
36'
Those who watched Dabbur play in the Europa League last season will know how slick he can be. The number nine just plucked a pass out of the sky perfectly, before juggling it past an onrushing Northern Ireland defender.
35'
McNair has an opening to thump one from distance after the hosts play keep-ball around the Israel area. His effort is charged down and deflected away.
34'
Northern Ireland have lost a lot of zip from their play, which was all about targeting Israel's left-back in the first half of this opening 45.
32'
Only four shots and two on target between the two sides. There's currently a friendly feel about this one.
31'
Even though Northern Ireland are in the lead, Grigg has had very little service with half-an-hour played.
29'
There's not a lot of quality to speak of at the moment. Lewis, like Israel, goes for a ball over the top only to give his team-mate too much to do on the left-hand side.
28'
The possession stats are in Israel's favour. They've had just over 63 percent of the ball.
26'
Jones' pace has caused all sort of problems for the Israel defence. Listed on the left before kick-off, he's popped up to bother Yeini on the right as well.
25'
Northern Ireland haven't managed to put together much time on the ball since taking the lead. They're trying to build right from the back as the half-hour approches.
23'
Dabbur has a chance on the volley just inside the box. The prior delivery is just behind him, preventing the striker from connecting properly.
21'
Although this is a friendly meeting, Israel are one of only five teams to have beaten O’Neill’s Northern Ireland team away from home in a competitive fixture (alongside Portugal, Germany, Switzerland and Bosnia). They've got off to a slow start so far tonight.
19'
Another Natcho ball over the top almost falls to Twatha, but the number 13 just runs out of pitch.
18'
Yeini needs more support at left full-back. This time, Dallas races past him before whipping in a cross that can't find a team-mate.
17'
McNair warned the Israel defence a couple of times before earning the corner that led to Northern Ireland's opener. The 23-year-old has been strong and powerful at right-back.
15'
Israel ramp up the pressure straight away after conceding. A swiftly earned corner comes to nothing.
13'
S. Davis has scored a goal for Northern Ireland! Assist by P. McNair.
A brilliant strike by Davis to make it 1-0! The following corner is quickly cut across to the Southampton midfielder, and he then curls it towards goal from 25 yards. There's enough power on the ball for it to squeeze past Haimov.
The assist looked straight from the training ground. Quick thinking from the former Manchester United defender.
12'
More space out wide on the right for the right-back McNair. He drills a cross in and it's out for a corner.
11'
Dabbur has just been at the heart of a dangerous foray in Northern Ireland's half. The Salzburg man loses track of the ball in the D with a shot looking inevitable.
10'
A half-chance falls to Lewis outside the area. He goes with a difficult volley, cutting across a high ball, but the attempt is blocked.
9'
Almost ten minutes have been played, and the away side are eyeing up a ball over the top whenever they're in possession.
Dallas has a chance to cross in space after a quick move down the right flank. Israel stamp out any danger, though.
8'
And just like that, Haimov is the pantomime villain...
7'
Israel kick the ball out of play with Haimov down on the ground injured. Grigg appeared to follow through on the visitors' keeper with a block.
6'
That was a promising little surge from left-back by Lewis. He tries to slide in Grigg but the delivery is overhit.
5'
Israel venture forward with promise for the first time, but a raking pass from left to right is too long and out for a Northern Ireland throw.
4'
This is the 10th meeting between Northern Ireland and Israel – with the Green and White Army losing just once in the process.
2'
O'Neill's side have had all of the ball in the opening few minutes. McNair is looking to push up from right-back already.
1'
Northern Ireland get us underway.
The home side immediately ease into possession, just as they did against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Hello and welcome to coverage of the friendly meeting between Northern Ireland and Israel in Belfast.
Michael O’Neill was happy with how his side dominated their Nations League opener against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Northern Ireland lost that one, though, and goals have been hard to come by of late, with just three scored in their last seven matches.
Israel also lost on their competition debut in Albania, and coach Andreas Herzog won’t have fond memories of playing at Windsor Park. The 49-year-old suffered a 5-3 defeat here while playing a Euro 1996 qualifier for Austria. O’Neill started and scored for Northern Ireland on that night 23 years ago. Team news for this game is on the way.
SUBS: Michael McGovern, Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Michael Smith, Ryan McLaughlin, Shane Ferguson, Oliver Norwood, Gavin Whyte, Jamie Ward, Niall McGinn, Kyle Lafferty, Conor Washington, Liam Boyce.
ISRAEL (4-4-2): Guy Haimov; Eli Dasa, Taleb Twatha, Ayad Habashi, Sheran Yeini; Eytan Tibi, Bibras Natcho, Dor Peretz, Dor Micha; Munas Dabbur, Tomer Hemed.
“Evolution” has been a buzzword for O’Neill when talking about this squad, and the inclusion of players like Saville and Lewis definitely point towards the future. Both started against Bosnia and Herzegovina, and start tonight. Evans and Davis give them a more experienced spine.
The teams are out on the Windsor Park turf and national anthems are being bellowed.
Israel have plenty of danger men, however. The experienced Natcho has the armband and will pull the strings in midfield, while Tomer Hemed will try to bully Cathcart and Evans. Dabbur was one of the stars for Salzburg in last season’s Europa League. Kick-off isn’t far away.
Northern Ireland had two attempts on target in the first half and have two brilliant goals without reply to show for it. The first was a training ground move guided home from range by captain Davis. Their second came at the end of another fine move, as Saville crossed in for Dallas to finish. Israel have offered little offensively despite the threat, on paper, of Hemed and Dabbur, even if Yeini should’ve equalised late on with a header.
It's been the polar opposite of Northern Ireland's defeat to Bosnia and Herzegovina, when they had much of the ball but couldn't find the goal. You would think O'Neill will be looking for a bit more control in the second half to come, regardless of the quality shown to go 2-0 up.
NORTHERN IRELAND (4-3-3): Trevor Carson; Jonny Evans, Craig Cathcart, Paddy McNair, Jamal Lewis; Steven Davis, George Saville, Corry Evans; Jordan Jones, Stuart Dallas, Will Grigg.
SUBS: Mahmud Kannadli, Daniel Amos, Shmuel Scheimann, Nisso Kapiloto, Maxim Plakushchenko, Daniel Einbinder, Alan Turgeman, Dia Saba, Dan Glazer, Ben Bitton.
All in all, O’Neill and the Green and White Army can be very, very pleased with their performance, albeit against a poor Israel side. Captain Davis led by example with a well-hit opener from a quick corner, before Dallas arguably one-upped the Southampton midfielder with a cool volleyed second. Then, Whyte capped off a memorable night by scoring a debut goal with his first contribution. The hosts came out after half-time with more control and the Windsor Park crowd thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Northern Ireland can look forward to a tricky visit to Austria on Group B3 duty, while Israel welcome Scotland to Haifa in Group C1 when the Nations League resumes in October. Thanks for joining us.
