GOAL! Sane scores his sides sixth goal of the game, to make it 6-1! The hosts broke forward quickly and stretched the Saints defence, with Sterling squaring the ball to Sane on the edge of the box, who drilled a low shot into the bottom corner. McCarthy got a hand to the ball, but he was unable to turn the ball around the post.
Foden played the ball forward to Sterling, who looked up and found Sane, who produced a fine finish.

There will be a minimum of three minutes added time played.
89'
Just a few minutes left to play at the Etihad and the pace of the game has dropped significantly now, with City appearing happy with their five goals today.
87'
Sane takes the set piece and gets a lot of pace on his effort, but it flies high over the crossbar. Not sure he'll be taking the next free-kick.
86'
Free-kick to City right on the edge of the penalty area, with Aguero, Sane and Walker all lined up to take it...
85'
Quick thinking by Long. The striker tries to catch Ederson off his line and by surprise from long range. However, Long slips as he strikes the ball and the City goalkeeper easily gathers.

Southampton now make their final change of the game, with Ings coming off the pitch, to be replaced by Armstrong.

There is another game being played today, with Chelsea in action at Stamford Bridge and Morata has just given them the lead against Crystal Palace. If they win that game, then City will be two clear of both them and Liverpool by two points.

M. Obafemi enters the game and replaces J. Ward-Prowse.
M. Elyounoussi enters the game and replaces N. Redmond.
Saints make a double substitution, the first sees Ward-Prowse replaced by Obafemi.

70'
A positive for Southampton today is that they have created chances to score and have ended their goalless run. Plus, they have played much better in the second half.
68'
V. Kompany enters the game and replaces J. Stones.
City make the first change of the game, with Stones coming off the pitch, perhaps rested ahead of the Champions League game in midweek. Kompany is his replacement.
67'
R. Sterling has scored a goal for Manchester City! Assist by S. Agüero.
GOAL! Sterling makes it 5-1! Another lovely move by City, a quick one-two on the edge of the box and Aguero then lays the ball off to Sterling who was sprinting into the box. The winger then drills the ball underneath McCarthy from a tight angle and into the back of the net.
Another assist for Aguero, he releases Sterling into the box and his team-mate superbly finishes off the move.
66'
The game is becoming much more stretched now, with both teams pushing forward in search of a goal. The hosts certainly look the more likely to score again.
61'
Still no changes made by either team, surely it won't be too long before we see some fresh legs introduced into the game. City have a Champions League game against Shaktar Donetsk on Wednesday to think about, so Guardiola may have one eye on that match.
59'
City look pretty happy to see the game out now and secure a 4-1 victory, which would move them back to the top of the Premier League table.
57'
This is a good spell for the visitors, they are forcing City into making mistakes and are putting them under some good pressure. A much better performance.
54'
Bertand gets forward down the left and tries to whip a ball into the box, but Walker blocks it and it goes out for a corner. Ward-Prowse takes the set piece...
51'
Much better from Southampton, they are getting more players forward and getting balls into the box which is putting pressure on City at the back.
48'
No changes for either side at the break, but City do have their substitutions warming up on the sidelines. City are enjoying much of the early possession in the second half.

The second half is underway!

HALF-TIME: MAN CITY 4-1 SOUTHAMPTON
45' +2
R. Sterling has scored a goal for Manchester City! Assist by S. Agüero.
Great work from Aguero to beat Cedric, who really should've done much better as he was muscled off the ball. The striker then picks out Sterling in the box, who makes no mistakes with the finish.
GOAL! Sterling makes it 4-1! Aguero does brilliantly to beat Cedric on the byline and then looks up and spots Sterling making a run at the far post. The winger doesn't take the best first touch, but he still manages to beat Bertrand and fire the ball under McCarthy to restore his sides three goal cushion before the break.
45' +1
It will be interesting to see if Hughes makes any changes at the break. The Saints manager was furious after the first 20 minutes but he seems slightly more pleased with his sides performance since their goal.
45'
There will be a minimum of three minutes added time played.
44'
City are controlling the ball in the latter stages of the half, but Southampton are defending much better now and should be able to keep them out until the break.
40'
Not long to go until the break now, can City extend their lead before the half-time whistle, or will Saints continue their comeback and make it a very interesting game?
38'
S. Agüero gets yellow.
Another silly yellow card for kicking the ball away, this time it's Aguero who is penalised.
37'
City are trying to walk the ball into the net. They have the ball in the Southampton area and Sane, Aguero, David Silva and Sterling all have chances to shoot from close range but instead opt to pass to a team-mate, but they end up getting crowded out and Southampton then finally manage to clear the ball.
34'
The away supporters have now found their voices and are making a lot of noise inside the Etihad. The visitors are playing much better now, although City have certainly dropped the pace of their game and allowed the Saints time on the ball.
32'
Southampton have settled into the game now, they don't seem as nervous or shaky as they did in the early stages and have regained some of their composure. Ings' goal for the Saints is their first goal in six games.
30'
GOAL! Saints pull one back, it's now 3-1! Ings shows great composure to slide the ball into the bottom corner of the net, he just waited for Ederson to move one way and then slotted the ball into the other corner of the goal. Something to cheer about for the away fans.
29'
Penalty goal scored by D. Ings for Southampton!
28'
Better from Southampton. Cedric gets forward down the right for the first time in the game and whips a good cross into the box, but Ings is unable to get onto the end of it and City clear the danger.
26'
The Champions have slowed the pace of the game now, they are very comfortable in all areas of the pitch and can play exactly how they like, because Southampton haven't done anything to threaten Ederson in the City goal, or even the final third.
24'
There is no rest for the Saints when they do manage to win the ball back off the hosts. There isn't any options up front, with Ings and Long both being forced to sit deep and defend, so when they do get the ball, they are too deep and there isn't a forward ball to be played.
20'
It's going to be a long journey back down to Southampton for the travelling supporters, they haven't had anything to cheer about so far and it is all City at the moment.
18'
David Silva has scored a goal for Manchester City! Assist by L. Sané.
Bernardo Silva feeds Sterling on the right and he floats a lovely ball to Sane, who flicks it on to David Silva at the far post.
GOAL! IT'S 3-0! David Silva with the best goal of the game so far and he makes it 3-0 to City. The attacking front three of City are carving open this Saints defence, especially down the flanks. Sterling feeds Sane, who then flicks the ball onto David Silva at the back post and the midfielder drills the ball into the back of the net on the volley. Superb goal!
16'
It's all Man City here, they could score a few more goals before the break as they are utterly dominant. Southampton are camped inside their own half and are struggling to get a touch on the ball at the moment.
12'
S. Agüero has scored a goal for Manchester City! Assist by R. Sterling.
GOAL! Man City double their lead, it's 2-0! Nightmare start for Southampton, they are two down after just 12 minutes played. Bernardo Silva and Sterling link up brilliantly down the right, with Sterling beating two players in the box and he gets to the byline, he then squares the ball back to Aguero who was waiting in the box and he smashes the ball into the back of the net from just a couple of yards out.
Sterling showed great skill to dribble his way into the box and then play a perfect ball across to Aguero, who was never going to miss from there!
10'
J. Ward-Prowse gets yellow.
Ward-Prowse is shown the first yellow card of the game, after he kicks the ball away after City are awarded a free-kick.
8'
Southampton are dropping into a 4-5-1 formation when they are defending, with Long dropping into the right of midfield. However, they need to start getting a lot closer to David Silva, as he is running the show for City in the middle of the pitch.
6'
W. Hoedt is unfortunate, scores an own goal!
GOAL! Man City lead 1-0! The Champions have been pressing for an early goal in the last couple of minutes, with David Silva involved in everything going forward. The midfielder plays the ball into Sane, who sprints into the box and tries to slide the ball into the bottom corner. Hoedt slides in and tries to clear the ball on the line, but unfortunately he ends up firing the ball into the back of his own net.
4'
Free-kick to City in a good position, after David Silva is fouled just on the edge of the penalty area and this is a good opportunity to whip the ball into the box. David Silva takes the set piece, but the Saints defend the ball well and clear the danger.
3'
The hosts are controlling the early possession, keeping the ball well at the back but Southampton are pressing them high up the pitch and not allowing them time and space within their own half.

We're underway!
Hello and welcome to our LIVE match commentary of the Premier League clash between Manchester City and Southampton at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City will be hoping to regain top spot in the Premier League today, after Liverpool moved above them yesterday by a single point. A victory or draw would move them above the Reds. The champions will be without Kevin De Bruyne, after he suffered another knee injury during their midweek cup game against Fulham and he is expected to be on the sidelines for up to six weeks.
Southampton travel to the Etihad hoping to end a run of six games without a Premier League victory or a goal, which has left them 16th in the table, just two points above the relegation zone. They drew 0-0 at home with Newcastle last weekend and goals have been in short supply for the Saints this season.
MAN CITY (4-3-3): Ederson; Kyle Walker, John Stones, Aymeric Laporte, Benjamin Mendy; Fernandinho, Bernardo Silva, David Silva; Leroy Sane, Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling
The team news is in, let's take a look at how both sides will line-up today.
MAN CITY SUBS: Arijanet Muric, Danilo, Vincent Kompany, Fabian Delph, Riyad Mahrez, Gabriel Jesus, Phil Foden
SOUTHAMPTON SUBS: Angus Gunn, Maya Yoshida, Jannik Vestergaard, Charlie Austin, Mohamed Elyounoussi, Stuart Armstrong, Michael Obafemi
SOUTHAMPTON (4-5-1): Alex McCarthy; Cedric Soares, Jack Stephens, Wesley Hoedt, Ryan Bertrand; Nathan Redmond, James Ward-Prowse, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Mario Lemina, Shane Long; Danny Ings
The teams are out at the Etihad and kick-off is just a few minutes away, stay tuned for all of the match action!
What a first half of football! City dominated much of the game and raced into a 3-0 lead after just 20 minutes, with a Hoedt own goal and then well worked moves which ended with Aguero and David Silva getting the ball into the back of the net. Ings pulled one back for the Saints from the penalty spot, after he was brought down by Ederson. It looked like it would end 3-1 at the break, but the Champions carved open the visitors once more at the end of the half, with Sterling making it four.
Southampton got off to a terrible start, but got better as the game went on and they improved further after Ings pulled a goal back. However, Sterling's goal on the stroke of half-time will surely have wrapped up the game. Will we see any changes from the Saints at the break? They'll need a miracle to get anything out of the game.
That's all from us today folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!
Southampton remain in 16th position, just two points above the relegation zone and they are now without a Premier League win in seven games. Next up for the Saints is a home game against Watford. City have two big games coming up next, first they face Shaktar Donetsk in the Champions League on Wednesday, before welcoming rivals Manchester United to the Etihad next Sunday.
