Barcelona will be looking to go back to eight points clear at the top of the table tonight when they travel to Bilbao to take on Gaizka Garitano's side. Hello and welcome to tonight's live coverage of the LaLiga clash between Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona from the San Mames.
ATHLETIC BILBAO (4-2-3-1) : Iago Herrerin; Oscar De Marcos, Yeray Alvarez, Inigo Martinez, Mikel Balenziaga; Benat Etxebarria, Dani Garcia; Markel Susaeta (C), Raul Garcia, Yuri; Inaki Williams.
SUBS: Ibai Gomez, Inigo Cordoba, Unai Simon, Unai Nunez, Kenan Kodro, Mikel San Jose, Iker Muniain.
BARCELONA (4-3-3): Marc-Andre ter Stegen; Nelsom Semedo, Gerard Pique, Clement Lenglet, Sergio Roberto; Arturo Vidal, Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic; Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Coutinho.
Bilbao head into the contest in good form having lost just one of their last five matches, although they lost their last contest to neighbours Real Sociedad. Barcelona’s last league defeat came in November and they are currently on a four-match unbeaten run following their Copa del Rey disappointment against Sevilla.
The one down side to the first half is Bilbao's inability to open the scoring. A team of Barcelona's quality do not often give away chances and Valverde will be eager to his side make them pay. Messi does not look like he will play the full 90 minutes, while Vidal has struggled in the middle of the park.
With Messi not fully fit, Barcelona never looked like scoring tonight and they will have to learn their lessons. They are now six points clear of Real Madrid at the top of the LaLiga table, but their focus will now switch to their Champions League campaign. Bilbao need to move away from the relegation zone and with performances like that they should be fine.
That is all for tonight folks, good night and thanks for joining us!
