Description
72'
Juan Bernat gets yellow.
Immediately after helping double PSG’s advantage, Bernat is shown a yellow card for a dangerously high boot which catches the face of Alakouch.
69'
K. Mbappé has scored a goal for PSG! Assist by Juan Bernat.
Bernat had been exposing Alakouch’s lack of defensive positioning all second half – this time getting the better of his counter-part and putting a wonderful cross in the box which is credited as the assist.
MBAPPE FINALLY GETS HIS GOAL! 2-0 PSG! After putting the ball in the net twice – only to have both ruled out after VAR checks – the France international finally makes his mark, stabbing the ball past Bernardoni from inside the six-yard box following a pinpoint delivery from Bernat on the left-flank!
67'
Landre unwisely gives the ball right to Mbappe in midfield who immediately pushes it up-field for Nkunku. The midfielder – undoubtedly full of confidence after his goal earlier in the match – sees Bernardoni off his line and attempts an audacious chip from outside the penalty area which goes narrowly wide of the bottom corner.
65'
S. Thioub enters the game and replaces A. Bobichon.
The first substitution of the match goes the way of Nimes – as Bobichon is replaced by Thioub.
62'
Kurzawa finds Mbappe lurking on the edge of the six-yard box, but his poked volley is sent just wide of the goal. He could have had a hat-trick by now, but as it stands – it is just 1-0. Nimes are still not out of this with an hour gone, but they have done very little to trouble Areola at the other end as PSG pour on the pressure.
60'
Choupo-Moting gets into the penalty area this time, exposing Alakouch once again on the attacking left, but once again the centring pass is intercepted; Maouassa doing the job coming all the way from left-back to help in the box.
58'
Phenomenal play from PSG as Mbappe uses his heel to flick a pass forward for Bernat who charges into the penalty area before cutting back a pass which doesn’t reach Choupo-Moting, as Savanier stretches out a leg to make the necessary interception.
56'
Paredes uses his corner-kick to play a pass towards the edge of the penalty area – teeing up a shot for Alves – but the referee blows play dead as Marquinhos is spotted for a foul in the build-up.
54'
ANOTHER CHANCE GOES BEGGING FOR PSG! Immediately after returning to the pitch he sprints down the left flank and cuts inside on the edge of the 18-yard box before firing a low shot towards the left corner of the goal. It’s a great chance, but it rolls just wide as Mbappe looks for his first goal of the match.
52'
Mbappe is off the pitch receiving treatment after a heavy challenge from Landre near the corner flag. The young striker is limping slightly – but he should be okay to continue after receiving a dose of the magic spray.
50'
Kurzawa puts a heavy challenge in on Ripart which earns Nimes a free-kick on the right-wing. The set-piece is taken towards the far post but Areola makes a comfortable two-handed catch to stop the attack.
48'
Mbappe keeps the ball in play on the right and plays a one-two pass with Alves which gets the striker in the penalty area. Instead of squaring the ball to a waiting Choupo-Moting however, he opts to shoot on goal from a narrow-angle – missing the target entirely.
46'
PSG get the match restarted from the kick-off!
45' +3
HALF-TIME: PSG 1-0 NIMES.
45' +2

Mbappe is shown a yellow card for his handball at the end of the half.
44'
The referee indicates one additional minute for stoppages.
40'
C. Nkunku has scored a goal for PSG! Assist by M. Verratti.
Verratti's lovely pass beat the entire Nimes defence - a superb assist for the match's opening goal.
THIS TIME, PSG MAKE NO MISTAKE AS THEY GO UP 1-0! Verratti lifts a superb pass over the top of the defence for Nkunku to latch onto which he does with enthusiasm. He takes a brilliant first touch to control it, before side-footing the chance past Bernardoni and into the goal!
38'
Alves heads towards the Nimes penalty area with options to his left and right, ultimately choosing to try and thread it through for Nkunku. It would have opened up the defence entirely, had a clever bit of defending not won the ball back for Nimes.
32'
Alves stands over the free-kick and curls it towards goal, but Bernardoni makes the simple catch to keep the score level.
31'
Alakouch lunges into a sliding challenge on Kurzawa but the tackle is slightly mistimed – forcing the referee to award PSG a free-kick in a dangerous position.
29'
Mbappe is constantly giving Braincon something to think about as he waits on the shoulder of the last man – hoping a long pass will come through for him to latch onto. All the France international striker needs is one chance to make Nimes pay – but he’s been isolated thus far.
27'
Paredes switches a pass to Alves but he is unable to thread the final ball through the defence for Mbappe who was in an offside position. The Nimes back line is allowing their opponents space – but they have been unable to make the most of it as we approach the half-hour mark.
25'
Paredes swings a corner towards the near post but it fails to beat the first man who heads it away confidently.
23'
Paredes takes the free-kick towards the far post looking for the head of Kurzawa who can only direct it wide of the goal.
22'
Verratti feeds the ball to Nkunku who has his back to goal outside the penalty area. The Nimes defence take no chances and give away a free-kick, fouling the PSG midfielder immediately.
20'
OVER FROM THE CAPTAIN! It’s a well-taken corner-kick from the left which finds the head of Briancon at the near post. He should really have put it on target but sends the chance high over Areola’s crossbar.
18'
Choupo-Moting loses the ball in midfield after what appears to be a foul, though the referee doesn’t award the hosts a free-kick. Kurzawa is slightly over-zealous in his challenge to win it back and gives away a set-piece deep in the PSG half.
16'
Paredes lunges into a tackle to try and win the ball back after Mbappe returned possession to Nimes, but he gets his timing wrong. He is awarded the first yellow card of the match.
15'
L. Paredes gets yellow.
14'
Mbappe has the ball around the penalty area but he is crowded out by four Nimes defenders who are alert to the danger. They are not giving the PSG attackers a chance to breathe – holding their shape well in numbers.
9'
CHANCE! Kurzawa has a crack at goal with his left foot, but he drags his shot wide and to the right of Bernardoni’s goal.
7'
Landre has a header following a corner conceded by Bernat but the centre-back sends his effort high over the bar.
5'
Five minutes into the match and PSG have yet to test Bernardoni’s goal. It has been a slow start from the hosts who are playing in a rather unusual formation with Choupo-Moting forced to start thanks to injuries to key players in attacking positions. Can he be the difference today?
3'
Bouanga cuts inside and attempts to pick out a team-mate on the edge of the penalty area but the PSG defence is well prepared and intercept the pass easily.
1'
Nimes get the match started from the kick-off!
Hello and welcome to our LIVE commentary of the Ligue 1 fixture between Paris Saint-Germain and Nimes!
Injuries to Edinson Cavani and Neymar have not stopped PSG’s free-scoring form, as they have managed 12 goals in their last five matches – conceding just once. With a Coupe de France fixture against Dijon approaching, and a 2-0 victory in the first leg of their Champions League tie with Manchester United – PSG are still on course for what would be an astounding treble; potentially becoming the first French side to do so.
Winners in their last five matches in all competitions, PSG are seemingly walking away with the league title – sitting 14 points above Lille in second having played two matches less. Thomas Tuchel’s side are on pace for a whopping 103 points; a record should they manage to continue their 2.7 points per match average.
Nimes are in for quite a test today as they try to defeat PSG for the first time in their history, after falling to 3-0 and 4-2 defeats in 2007 and 2018 respectively. If they do manage to secure a historic three points, it would be good enough to send Bernard Blaquart’s side as high as sixth if all results go accordingly.
In order to do so, it will take a herculean defensive effort, as Nimes lay claim to the worst defensive record in the top 15, conceding 35 times in 25 games. Injuries to Fethi Harek and Florian Miguel leave the manager with even fewer options, as there are only three other defenders in the squad.
PSG XI (4-3-3): Alphonse Areola; Juan Bernat, Marquinhos, Thiago Silva, Dani Alves; Christopher Nkunku, Marco Verratti, Leandro Paredes; Layvin Kurzawa, Kylian Mbappe, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
With 15 minutes to go before kick-off, the team news has been confirmed! Let's start with the home side.
NIMES XI (4-3-3): Paul Bernardoni; Sofiane Alakouch, Anthony Briancon, Loick Landre, Faitout Maouassa; Jordan Ferri, Teji Savanier, Theo Valls; Renaud Ripart, Denis Bouanga, Antonin Bobichon.
PSG SUBS: Stanley N’Soki, Julian Draxler, Colin Dagba, Gianluigi Buffon, Moussa Diaby.
PSG didn’t start the match particularly well but ended it with some real confidence which they will look to take into the second half. The pace of Nkunku and Mbappe is clearly troubling a Nimes defence which is not known for its organisation or resoluteness. A lack of substitutes on the bench for Tuchel could play a factor late in the match, though the hosts look likely to put even more distance between the sides after the restart. For Nimes – Blaquart must do something to get Bouanga more involved as the striker has looked threatening on the rare occasions they get forward. With 45 minutes to play, the visitors aren’t necessarily out of the game, but they will need to play much better.
That concludes our Ligue 1 commentary of the fixture between Paris Saint-Germain and Nimes! We hope you enjoyed it!
PSG are in action again on Tuesday when they host Dijon in the Coupe de France while Nimes await the visit of Rennes on March 2.
