Benfica get the quarter-final second leg underway!
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Europa League quarter-final second leg between Eintracht Frankfurt and Benfica at the Commerzbank Arena!
Benfica hold the advantage in the tie after winning the first leg of the quarter-final 4-2 last Thursday. The Portuguese side are in good form as well, losing just one of their last seven matches in all competitions (W6) and have scored four goals in each of their last three wins. The loss in the first leg ended a five-match winning run in all competitions for Frankfurt, who also lost 3-1 to Augsburg on Sunday.
EINTRACHT FRANKFURT STARTING XI (3-4-1-2): Kevin Trapp; Makoto Hasebe, David Abraham, Simon Falette; Danny da Costa, Gelson Fernandes, Sebastian Rode, Filip Kostic; Mijat Gacinovic; Luka Jovic, Ante Rebic.
EINTRACHT FRANKFURT SUBS: Frederik Ronnow, Timothy Chandler, Jetro Willems, Lucas Torro, Marco Russ, Goncalo Paciencia, Jonathan de Guzman.
BENFICA STARTING XI (4-4-2): Odisseas Vlachodimos; Andre Almeida, Ruben Dias, Jardel, Alejandro Grimaldo; Gedson Fernandes, Andreas Samaris, Lubomir Fejsa, Rafa; Joao Felix, Haris Seferovic.
The teams are out on the pitch now, with kick-off just moments away.
Due to their two away goals, Frankfurt need to score at least once more without reply if they want to make it through to the semi-finals. If they continue to play the way they did in the first half, then they look likely to add to their goal tally. Benfica, on the other hand, need to improve if they want to advance to the next round of the competition. They need to find a way to get Felix into the game so they can put some pressure on Frankfurt in the final third as well as improving defensively as they looked shaky at the back in the first half.
That's all for today, goodbye!
So, Frankfurt will face Chelsea in the next round of the competition after they beat Slavia Prague 5-3 on aggregate, but first, their attention turns back to the Bundesliga where they continue their battle for the top four against Wolfsburg on Monday. Benfica can now focus solely on the league as they challenge for the title and Lage will be hoping that his side can get back to winning ways quickly when they face Maritimo on Monday.
