Referee Clement Turpin blows his whistle, and PSG get us underway at the Parc des Princes!
Hello and welcome to our LIVE coverage of this Ligue 1 contest as Paris Saint-Germain host Monaco at the Parc des Princes!
While Wednesday’s 3-2 defeat at Nantes marked PSG’s second consecutive Ligue 1 loss since November 2011, they still managed to clinch their eighth title without kicking a ball after second-placed Lille were held 0-0 at Toulouse earlier. Now on 81 points after 32 games, Thomas Tuchel’s side now cannot be caught and they will head onto the pitch as champions for the sixth time in seven campaigns against their visitors.
Leonardo Jardim’s return to the principality has seen Monaco claw themselves out of the relegation zone after just losing one of their last 10 league matches. Now in 16th place but just four points from a relegation play-off, it would be a surprise if they get pulled back down given their recent improvement under Jardim. However, they would have to do very well to get anything out of the Parc des Princes given their dreadful head-to-head record against the reigning champions who will be in a celebratory mood.
SUBSTITUTES: Carlos Vinicius, Nacer Chadli, Kevin N'Doram, Diego Benaglio, Jean Eudes Aholou, Moussa Sylla, Andrea Raggi
MONACO XI (3-4-3): Danijel Subasic; Benoit Badiashile Mukinayi, Jemerson, Kamil Glik; Benjamin Henrichs, Aleksandr Golovin, Adrien Silva, Fode Ballo-Toure; Gelson Martins, Radamel Falcao (c), Rony Lopes.
PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN XI (3-5-2): Alphonse Areola; Thilo Kehrer, Marquinhos (c), Presnel Kimpembe; Colin Dagba, Dani Alves, Leandro Paredes, Marco Verratti, Layvin Kurzawa; Moussa Diaby, Kylian Mbappe.
And without further ado, let’s take a look at how both sides line up, starting with the hosts.
The players are out and kick-off is drawing near.
The Parc des Princes takes a round of applause as Jardim, the only manager to stop PSG's stranglehold on the league albeit for only one season, congratulates Tuchel on his maiden Ligue 1 victory.
With his side in the driver’s seat and their status as league champions assured, Tuchel will want to see this game out with a clean sheet and no new injury worries. As for Jardim, Subasic’s injury early on in the first half will be a huge blow to his team’s chances of avoiding the relegation play-offs, but as a previous conqueror of the Parisian juggernauts, he will want his players to come out for the second half with all guns blazing.
And that wraps up our coverage. We hope you enjoyed our commentary, and until next time, goodbye!
These two sides do not play their next league matches until after next weekend, as PSG travel to Montpellier on Tuesday and Monaco also hit the road as they prepare to face Rennes a day later. However, Tuchel and his charges must make one pit-stop before resuming Ligue 1 duties, as they aim to make it a fourth domestic double in their history against Rennes in the Coupe de France final on Saturday.
