Suarez and Cavani charge forward on the break, with the latter playing in the former, who is promptly tripped up by Mina, who hardly tries to mask his intentions. He's had quite the frustrating night.
90'
Quite surprisingly, there will be four minutes added on at the end of this match. No mercy for Ecuador.
87'
A lengthy delay here as Dominguez goes down following that last Uruguay chance, and requires a bit of treatment. There's probably a bit of mental fatigue playing its part here as well. No one seems too concerned with the time running off the clock here.
83'
It's really being played at a snail's place now following that fourth goal. Ecuador have no interest being out there, and it's hard to blame them given how this has played out. Onto the next for them.
81'
F. Valverde enters the game and replaces M. Vecino.
Uruguay make their final change of the match with time winding down, as Valverde replaces Vecino in midfield.
78'
A. Mina is unfortunate, scores an own goal!
IT COUNTS! Make that 4-0 Uruguay! A ball over the top was chested back into the danger area by Pereiro, where Mina embarassingly runs into it, sending a looping effort over his keeper and into the back of the net! It's a real head in hands moment for him.
77'
A rare sight at goal for Ecuador as Velasco tries his luck from distance, and why not. He doesn't quite get the contact right, however, as Muslera can watch is sail comfortably over the bar.
75'
L. Torreira enters the game and replaces N. Lodeiro.
A second change of the match for Uruguay sees Arsenal midfielder Torreira coming on to replace Lodeiro, scorer of the game's first goal.
72'
There seems to be an opportunity for Ecuador to capitalise on here with Uruguay lulling themselves to sleep, almost. They've had such an easy go at it, that if La Tricolor can find a way to dig deep and make a late push, Uruguay might be caught off guard.
Minute
Description
70'
Uruguay as comfortable as could be right now as they pass it around at the back, with Ecuador showing no desire whatsoever to press. As Godin and Gimenez pass it back and forth, the closest yellow shirt is a good 15 yards away.
68'
There's been little goalmouth action to speak of with neither side showing any urgency on the ball, perhaps understandably so. This half has largely been played at a walking pace.
64'
G. Pereiro enters the game and replaces N. Nández.
Uruguay go to the bench for the first time tonight as PSV's Pereiro is brought on to replace Nandez.
63'
J. Giménez gets yellow.
Gimenez impedes the run of Valencia, and he will see yellow for the foul.
61'
It's Ecuador's turn to play keep-away, as they enjoy a prolonged spell of possession inside the attacking half. They're far too content on keeping it there, though, showing no real desire or ability to advance into the final third.
59'
The free-kick is lashed straight into the wall and Ecuador clear their lines with ease. That's simply not good enough from Uruguay.
58'
Vital from Mina! Lovely reading of the game from the centre-back to get across and snuff out a delightful run from Caceres, who had just about danced his way through on goal. However, Nandez is fouled by Mina seconds later in the defender's attempts to win the ball back after a heavy touch following the intervention, affording Uruguay a free-kick on the edge of the penalty area.
56'
Slowly but surely Ecuador are growing into this match. Uruguay have really taken their foot off the gas as they're cruising through these opening stages of the second half on auto-pilot.
54'
There's not much of a tempo here with Ecuador being afforded more time and space to play on the ball, yet reluctant to take it. They're not committing anyone forward when the opportunity presents itself, and it's starting to wear on their few attackers who are getting higher up the pitch.
50'
A rare foray into attack for Ecuador as they get forward and win a throw high up the pitch. They lack options, however, as the throw can only find a sky blue shirt and just like that Uruguay are back the other way. Frustration is also starting to play a part, as Mina gets in the face of Cavani following a minor coming together.
46'
Romario Ibarra enters the game and replaces A. Preciado.
Ecuador get the second half underway!
One change to tell you about at the interval, and it's a second for Ecuador, as Ibarra replaces Preciado out wide.
45' +4
HALF-TIME: URUGUAY 3-0 ECUADOR.
45'
As a result of the lengthy VAR delay, there will be four minutes added on at the end of this first half.
44'
L. Suárez has scored a goal for Uruguay! Assist by M. Cáceres.
Caceres gets credited with the assist as they're saying he got his head to the corner to knock it down towards the far post.
THE ROUT IS ON! It's 3-0 Uruguay as Suarez gets in on the act, reacting quickest to pounce on the loose ball at the far post following a corner. There's no way back for Ecuador now.
43'
Ecuador have hardly touched the ball in the last 10 minutes. They're at a significant disadvantage playing with a man down, but they're allowing too much time and space for Uruguay to pass it around. They need to close their gaps better and apply some pressure on the ball.
41'
Suffocating stuff from Uruguay who have set up camp in the final third, passing the ball around at will with Ecuador unable to break up their rhythm. This is good, patient build-up play from them as they wait for an opening.
39'
One-way traffic here in Belo Horizonte, as Ecuador just need to get this match into the interval. They're really under the cosh right now, and have been since the sending off. Respite has been limited for their back line. They have to get into the break and regroup.
33'
E. Cavani has scored a goal for Uruguay! Assist by D. Godín.
Great vision and aerial ability there from Godin to head the ball back into the path of Cavani, as he's credited with the assist.
URUGUAY DOUBLE THEIR LEAD! Cavani has his goal, and it's of the absolute highest quality as he makes it 2-0! A ball is swung in to the far post where Godin meets it, heading it back into the danger area for Cavani, who guides a thrillingly acrobatic overhead kick into the top corner! Outstanding!
29'
P. Velasco enters the game and replaces Á. Mena.
Forced into an early change are Ecuador, following the sending off. Velasco comes on to fill the vacant role at full-back, with Mena, who was operating as a number 10, giving way.
26'
Disaster strikes for Ecuador, who are going to have to simply try and limit the damage now. Falling a man down against a team as clinical as Uruguay, especially considering the firepower the Celeste have, could spell disaster for them. They have to manage the rest of this game smartly to prevent falling too far behind on goal difference.
24'
J. Quintero goes off after a red card!
HE'S OFF! Ecuador are down to 10 men! It's all gone horribly wrong for them in this first half! A goal down and now a man down, as the referee decides to give Quintero his marching orders, La Tricolor have it all to do here.
16'
The tempo has dropped off a bit following a very lively start, as Ecuador look to claw themselves back into the match. It's all been rather casual thus far for Uruguay, who've looked quite comfortable despite any real display of urgency.
14'
N. Lodeiro gets yellow.
Lodeiro goes flying in to win a loose ball and was always favoured to win it, but he just catches his opponent who made up some ground to try and win it himself, and it's the goal scorer who goes into the book. That's a bit of a harsh one as it was his ball to win, but the nature of his two-footed slide likely proved his undoing there.
12'
OFFSIDE! It looked like two for Uruguay as Cavani is played in down the left and pulls it back for Lodeiro, who plays in a driven cross for Suarez, and the striker heads in excellently off the far post! But a very late offside flag means the goal won't count, as it was Cavani who strayed behind the defence when played through initially.
10'
Decent response! Good build-up play from Ecuador as they attack down the left, and a cross whipped in from the flank forces Muslera into action, but he's fortunate to see his weak punch bounce off a defender and behind for a corner with Valencia attacking.
6'
N. Lodeiro has scored a goal for Uruguay! Assist by L. Suárez.
Suarez was allowed time and space to pick out that pass as Achilier poorly misjudged a ball in the air and let it bounce over his head. It's an assist for Suarez in his first start since undergoing knee surgery.
URUGUAY HAVE THE BREAKTHROUGH! It's 1-0 courtesy of a brilliant solo strike from Lodeiro! He takes a pass from Suarez and chests in down smartly, before lifting his second touch around a defender to open up a shooting lane, and dragging a delightful finish into the far corner! What a start!
5'
It's been all Uruguay since that early scare, as they're dominating possession and keeping Ecuador pinned back in defence. It's all very clinical from them, as they're developing a nice rhythm on the ball.
1'
AND THEY'RE OFF! Uruguay in they sky blue kits as they get this match underway in Belo Horizonte, with Ecuador in yellow tops with blue and red trim.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the opening Group C match at Copa America as Uruguay and Ecuador do battle at Estadio Mineirao in Belo Horizonte!
Following a turbulent end to last year, Uruguay have enjoyed a flawless 2019 as they come into the tournament with as good of odds as anyone outside of hosts Brazil, perhaps, to win the 2019 Copa America.
It’s been eight years since La Celeste have won a knockout match at the tournament, but their old guard are joined by a incredibly talented crop of youngsters, as they have eyes on spoiling Brazil’s party and returning to the top of South American football for the first time since 2011.
Despite qualifying for three of the past five World Cups, Ecuador have been starved of success on a continental level, enduring the longest active Copa America semi-final drought among South American nations.
It’s been over 25 years since Ecuador last reached the final four of the competition, and excitement is low among supporters as La Tricolor find themselves in the midst of a transition period under coach Hernan Dario Gomez, with one of their weaker squads in recent memory.
URUGUAY (4-3-1-2): Fernando Muslera; Martin Caceres, Jose Gimenez, Diego Godin, Diego Laxalt; Nathan Nandez, Matias Vecino, Rodrigo Bentancur; Nicolas Lodeiro; Luis Suarez, Edinson Cavani.
SUBS: Gaston Pereiro, Cristhian Stuani, Lucas Torreira, Sebastian Coates, Federico Valverde, Jonathan Rodriguez, Giorgian de Arrascaeta, Marcelo Saracchi, Martin Campana, Giovanni Gonzalez, Martin Silva, Maximiliano Gomez.
SUBS: Pedro Velasco, Sebastian Mendez, Maximo Banguera, Carlos Garces, Romario Ibarra, Xavier Arreaga, Pedro Ortiz, Luis Chicaiza, Renato Ibarra, Carlos Gruezo, Robert Arboleda, Cristian Ramirez.
It's been a long 45 minutes for Ecuador and it doesn't figure to get any better for them after the interval. There's been little evidence to suggest they can keep up with this suffocating Uruguay side, and playing a man down makes it all the more difficult. Their best hope might be Uruguay taking their foot off the gas.
ECUADOR (4-2-3-1): Alexander Dominguez; Jose Quintero, Arturo Mina, Gabriel Achillier, Beder Caicedo; Jefferson Intriago, Jefferson Orejuela; Antonio Valencia, Angel Mena, Ayrton Preciado; Enner Valencia.
Up next for Uruguay is a date with Japan, while Ecuador face another tough test against holders Chile. That's all for our live coverage, thanks for following along. Goodbye!
