There's been no flow to this match over the last 15 minutes with all the stoppages. It's now or never for Chile, but they're struggling to get the ball, or bodies, forward. This might be a case of them simply having nothing left in the tank.
90' +3
N. Tagliafico gets yellow.
Tagliafico gets the timing of his challenge wrong as he fouls Isla at the halfway line and picks up a yellow card.
90' +2
The referee isn't interested in penalty appeals from Chile as they shout for handball. As everyone gets up on the Chile bench, the referee gets word in his headset that they might want to check with VAR on that incident, but the conversation is brief as play resumes a few seconds later.
90'
R. Funes Mori enters the game and replaces G. Lo Celso.
A final change of this match from Argentina sees them bring on Funes Mori for some defensive insurance, as he takes the place of Lo Celso.
There will be a minimum of six minutes added on at the end of this match, which seems a bit excessive.
87'
An Otamendi foul on Vargas awards Chile a free-kick on the edge of the final third. Pulgar whips in a cross as the red shirts pack the Argentina penalty area, but the Albiceleste are first to it before Pulgar fouls De Paul in an attempt to win it back, and the pressure is relieved.
85'
Perhaps some time wasting from Argentina as De Paul goes down and stays down following what looked a very clean challenge from Vidal. There didn't even appear to be any contact there.
83'
N. Castillo enters the game and replaces C. Aránguiz.
Chile make a change in attack as Castillo, a forward, comes on to take the place of Aranguiz, a midfielder.
81'
M. Suárez enters the game and replaces S. Agüero.
Aguero's race has been run. A second Argentina change sees Suarez come on in place of the striker.
79'
J. Foyth gets yellow.
Foyth clatters into Beausejour and he's shown a yellow. Chile seem to be escaping bookings for some hard challenges, while Argentina are being punished every time they commit a foul, it feels like.
Minute
Description
76'
Argentina back on the front foot, patiently working the ball around the final third. You get the sense here that they just might need a third to put this to bed, or at least make for a more comfortable finish.
71'
The referee produces yet another yellow, but this one is shown to a former player as Argentina assistant Walter Samuel goes into the book for being a bit too vocal on the touchline. He was no stranger to a yellow during his playing days, either.
69'
Argentina have taken back control of this match, refusing to surrender possession over the last five minutes or so. Chile seem to be suffering from a bit of fatigue, and time will tell if they have enough left in the tank for one more strong push at an equaliser.
67'
Á. Di María enters the game and replaces P. Dybala.
Argentina make their first change of the match as Dybala gives way for Di Maria, and the Juventus forward doesn't appear particularly happy about that.
63'
L. Paredes gets yellow.
Paredes does well to win a free-kick high up the pitch after being tripped up by Fernandes. The Argentina midfielder has been fouled often in this match, and winning this decision isn't enough to fully alleviate his frustrations as he still argues with the referee, and winds up being booked for dissent.
61'
Chile growing in confidence! They get back on the front foot straight away, and Fernandes calls Armani into action with a sharp turn and shot from the edge of the penalty area. This time it's a comfortable save for the Argentina keeper, though.
59'
Penalty goal scored by A. Vidal for Chile!
GAME ON IN SAO PAULO! 2-1! Vidal hammers that penalty straight down the middle, with Armani diving to his left, as he cuts the deficit in half! Could the comeback be on here?!
57'
G. Pezzella gets yellow.
PENALTY TO CHILE! Well how about this decision?! The contact certainly looked to come outside the penalty area, but the referee has quite stunningly awarded Chile a spot kick! Argentina are livid with the decision, and Pezzella is booked for dissent.
52'
Paredes is livid with the referee after Isla barges through his back at the byline as he was shielding a ball and ushering it out of play. It wasn't malicious by Isla, but it certainly could have been avoided. The referee better have an idea of what he's doing here, because things are on a knife-edge, ready to boil over again at any given moment.
50'
G. Maripán enters the game and replaces G. Jara.
Mariapan, who started the semi-final, comes on to take the place of Jara in defence.
46'
Chile get the second half underway!
45' +3
HALF-TIME: ARGENTINA 2-0 CHILE.
45' +1
E. Pulgar gets yellow.
Nasty from Pulgar! Another foul from the midfielder, who looks intent on causing damage in this match. He catches Paredes with a hard challenge at the halfway line, with his studs showing a bit, as he's shown a yellow card.
45'
There will be three minutes added on at the end of this match.
37'
G. Medel goes off after a red card!
L. Messi goes off after a red card!
BOTH SIDES DOWN TO 10 MEN! Messi chases down a Dybala throughball that runs out of play, before engaging in a shoving match with Medel. Messi gives him a little nudge in the back and Medel took exception, turning and getting right in his face as both players are shown a straight red!
Medel's involvement looked worse as he tried for a headbutt which didn't quite come off, though he was provoked by that shove in the back. Medel sees a straight red as well as this has turned into complete and utter chaos!
36'
The tempo has dropped off significantly. The responsibility has fallen on Chile with them chasing this deficit, but they can't muster up much of anything right now. They've been more concerned with imposing themselves physically than anything else.
34'
It's all been quite comfortable for Argentina, especially at the back. They've been able to pass their way out of defence far too easily, with Chile just lacking any real intensity or pace with their pressing. La Roja are looking very lethargic.
30'
There's been no flow to Chile's game whatsoever thus far, with Argentina firmly in control. The Albiceleste have been clinical in possession and they've had the quality in the attacking half that Chile have sorely lacked. That's been the difference thus far.
26'
A. Vidal gets yellow.
Tempers boiling over! Medel cynically fouls Messi at the halfway line and a few Argentina players take exception to the challenge. Vidal gets involved as he comes to his team-mate's defence, which prompts a big coming together and a lot of pushing and shoving. In the end Vidal is shown a yellow for dissent, while Medel somehow escapes a booking again!
24'
It doesn't look as though Chile have turned up for this match, which is quite shocking given the manner in which they lost to Peru in the semi-final. They had a nightmare in Porto Alegre on Wednesday night, and if they're not careful it might be even worse for them today.
22'
P. Dybala has scored a goal for Argentina! Assist by G. Lo Celso.
Lo Celso provides the assist with a smart pass through the lines, but Dybala was really sharp in taking that pass without breaking stride.
MAKE THAT 2-0! Argentina cruising in Sao Paulo as Dybala does really well to take a pass from Lo Celso and spring himself behind the defence with a terrific first touch, before producing a wonderfully cool finish as he chips Arias at the near post to double their lead!
17'
J. Fernándes enters the game and replaces A. Sánchez.
Fernandes is brought on to take the place of the injured Sanchez.
16'
J. Beausejour gets yellow.
Beausejour picks up the first yellow card of the match for lightly tugging the arm of Aguero from behind, to try and slow the striker as he darted through midfield. Definitely a bit of a soft foul, and Medel is lucky not to be booked for dissent as he got right in the face of the referee and wouldn't leave him alone as he followed him around with a look of agression on his face.
14'
That goal might be just what this match needed. It has started quite stale in Sao Paulo, but that should force Chile to open up and play with a bit more desire going forward. Given it's the third place play-off, there's certainly little for them to lose by getting after it.
12'
S. Agüero has scored a goal for Argentina! Assist by L. Messi.
ARGENTINA LEAD IN SAO PAULO! 1-0! Brilliance from Messi who is fouled at the halfway line, and takes the resulting free-kick quickly as Chile are pleading their case, carving them apart with a delicious throughball to send in Aguero, who rounds the keeper and rolls Argentina into the lead!
Another example of the smarts and vision of Messi there to see that develop and catch Chile out, as he provides the assist.
11'
Foyth has had a pretty poor start to this match, in possession especially. On a few occasions already he's gifted the ball to Chile with stray passes and heavy touches, but La Roja have lacked sharpness as well in possession as they have failed to take advantage.
7'
A ball over the top for Aguero sees Argentina into the final third for the first time. The striker lays it off for Messi, who is instantly swarmed before winning a free-kick about 30 yards out. The resulting set piece is played short, with Aguero eventually missing the target at the near post with a strike from distance.
5'
It's all been rather pedestrian in these opening stages. Neither side has opened with much urgency, and that lack of intensity is really plaguing the tempo thus far.
3'
Quite the sloppy start to this match from both sides, with a number of stray passes high up the pitch seeing possession exchanging hands often. Play then comes to a halt as De Paul stays down following a coming together at the halfway line, before popping up to his feet 30 seconds later looking no worse for wear.
1'
AND THEY'RE OFF! Argentina in their vintage sky blue and white strip as they get this match underway, with Chile in red tops and blue shorts.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the 2019 Copa America third place play-off as Argentina meet Chile in Sao Paulo!
Argentina were desperate for a first international trophy in the Lionel Messi era, while Chile had their hearts set on a third successive Copa America championship – instead these sides meet in a rematch of the 2016 final, only a day earlier than they would have liked.
It was Chile who won that day a little over three years ago, edging Argentina on penalties at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, denying Messi and company the title they so desperately craved.
Instead the drought continues for the Albiceleste, who have not won a major trophy since 1993, and the wait continues for them after losing to hosts Brazil in the semi-final in Belo Horizonte on Tuesday night.
Revenge will be on Argentina’s minds as they look to pay Chile back for that 2016 final defeat, while La Roja have a point to prove themselves having been carved to bits at the hands of Peru in their semi-final.
CONFIRMED TEAM NEWS:
ARGENTINA (4-3-3): Franco Armani; Juan Foyth, German Pezzella, Nicolas Otamendi, Nicolas Tagliafico; Rodrigo de Paul, Leandro Paredes, Giovani Lo Celso; Lionel Messi, Paulo Dybala, Sergio Aguero.

Chile have been incredibly frustrated through the first half and they've done their best to take it out on Argentina. It's made for an increasingly physical match that has only got worse as the half wore on, leaving the referee with the important responsibility of finding a way to settle things down over the final 45 minutes.
That's all for our live coverage, thanks for following along! Goodbye.
