Brazil's celebrations are postponed just slightly as another minute is added on at the end of stoppage time.
90' +3
Allan enters the game and replaces Everton.
A final change of the match for Brazil sees Everton depart to a hero's ovation, as Allan takes his place for the final minutes.
90' +1
Richarlison gets yellow.
Richarlison sees yellow for taking his shirt off in his celebration. Rules are rules, but it doesn't mean they're good ones.
There will be five minutes added on at the end of this match, but they seem like nothing more than a formality now.
90'
Penalty goal scored by Richarlison for Brazil!
BRAZIL ARE SURELY GOING TO WIN IT NOW! Richarlison makes it 3-1 as he steps up to take and places his penalty perfectly into the bottom corner, just beyond the reach of Gallese! That's job done for the Selecao!
86'
A. Polo enters the game and replaces A. Carrillo.
A final roll of the dice for Peru sees Polo take the place of Carrillo, in what is more of a straight swap on the flank.
84'
L. Advíncula gets yellow.
Peru's pressure amounts to nothing and Brazil look to break quickly, before Advincula fouls Everton smartly to prevent a counter. It's a yellow for the full-back.
82'
C. Gonzáles enters the game and replaces R. Tapia.
Peru's second change is another attacking one as they've now withdrawn both holding midfielders with Tapia giving way, and Gonzales, an attacking midfielder, taking his place.
80'
Into the final 10 minutes and it's edge of the seat stuff for Brazil. Just about everyone is behind the ball for them now, with Everton and Richarlison their only real attackers out on the pitch - and Everton has been consistently tracking back here to lend a hand to Alex Sandro in defence.
78'
R. Ruidíaz enters the game and replaces Y. Yotún.
And Peru finally make their first change of the night with Ruidiaz replacing Yotun. It's a striker on for a defensive midfielder, as Los Incas are going for it at last.
Minute
Description
77'
Éder Militão enters the game and replaces Philippe Coutinho.
Tite elects to bring on a third centre-back to help see this out as Militao replaces Coutinho, an attacking midfielder, for the final 13 minutes.
75'
Richarlison enters the game and replaces Roberto Firmino.
Brazil respond by making their first change as Richarlison is brought on to carry the weight in attack, replacing Firmino.
72'
Peru have turned up the heat now! Trauco forces Alisson into a save with a strike from 20 yards, as Brazil are being hemmed back here. Jesus, meanwhile, is spotted crying in the tunnel. That was quite the controversial decision and he's understandably not taking it well.
70'
Gabriel Jesus gets a second yellow card and is sent off.
BRAZIL ARE DOWN TO 10 MEN! What a twist this is! Jesus is shown a second yellow as he catches Zambrano with an elbow as they both went up for the ball! It certainly looked a bit harsh, but the referee has made up his mind and Brazil's task just got a little bit harder!
68'
C. Zambrano gets yellow.
Zambrano gives Jesus a late push out of the field of play and the referee doesn't hesitate in producing a yellow card.
67'
Surprisingly there's very limited activity on the touchlines as neither side look particularly keen on making a change. Peru have just over 20 minutes to get themselves a goal and have some good attacking options available off the bench. Now it's just a matter of using them.
65'
Tapia wins a free-kick on the right flank as Peru remain in the ascendancy. Nothing comes from the set piece, but Peru keep the pressure on after Brazil initially clear their lines.
63'
It's all just looking a bit stale at the moment. With both sides naming the same XI as they did in the semi-final, some tired legs seem to be setting in. The two managers should be pondering changes here just to help freshen things up.
61'
Into the final 30 minutes of this match and despite Brazil dominating this second half, Peru have been able to avoid conceding a killer third goal. Their belief figures to be growing the longer they hang around here.
55'
Chances at both ends! Peru break in numbers as they catch Brazil stretched, but their decision making just lets them down at the vital moment as the chance is gone. Brazil respond on the counter, with Peru now stretched, but Coutinho opts to go at it alone as he sees a shot blocked from 20 yards instead of rolling a pass over for Jesus who was in acres of space to his right.
53'
Thiago Silva gets yellow.
Cueva does well to get forward before being fouled by Thiago Silva, who sees yellow for his efforts. The tempo is really picking up here.
49'
R. Tapia gets yellow.
Coutinho looks to break quickly for Brazil and Tapia is having none of it, taking one for the team as he wraps his arms around the attacker and pulls him to ground. It's a professional foul - one that sees Tapia into the book.
48'
Brazil are quickly camped out in attack to get the second half underway, looking for the third goal that would likely put this match to bed. Successive corners keep Peru hemmed back in their own penalty area, but Brazil are unable to make much of either of them.
46'
Brazil get the second half underway! No changes from either side at the break.
45' +3
Gabriel Jesus has scored a goal for Brazil! Assist by Arthur.
Oustanding play from Arthur there in midfield, not just to win the ball back, but to quickly turn up the pitch and find that pass for Jesus.
BRAZIL TAKE THE LEAD RIGHT BACK! 2-1! On the stroke of half-time Arthur dispossesses Yotun high up the pitch, bursts forward and rolls a clever pass across for Jesus who shows great composure to wait out Gallese and roll a finish in at the far post!
HALF-TIME: BRAZIL 2-1 PERU.
45'
There will be just two minutes added on at the end of this first half.
44'
Penalty goal scored by P. Guerrero for Peru!
PARITY RESTORED AT THE MARACANA! 1-1! Guerrero keeps his cool and sends Alisson the wrong way as he pulls Peru level! It's game on now in the final!
41'
PERU HAVE A PENALTY! Well that wasn't in the script! A major twist in the tale as a Cueva's low cross is blocked by the arm of Thiago Silva, following a tidy give and go with Flores! A lifeline for Peru!
40'
It feels like VAR has played such a major role in this tournament, resulting in a number of lengthy stoppages. There's been nothing for the referee to have a second look at so far, though, which is perhaps why this half has flown by.
34'
Peru have been strangers in the attacking third since the opening few minutes. This first half has actually sort of flown by, despite the fact that not a whole lot has happened. Brazil are like a well-oiled machine in possession, though. It can be mesmerising.
32'
The match has become very stop-start over the last five minutes as the physicality picks up quite a bit. Brazil are doing an excellent job of preventing Peru from getting into any sort of rhythm, making sure to disrupt their flow when they do get on the ball.
30'
Gabriel Jesus gets yellow.
Jesus is a bit over-eager to try and win the ball back high up the pitch, sliding in with a late and rather agressive challenge, as he picks up the game's first yellow card as a result.
29'
Gareca is urging his side to pick up their energy level as they have been lured into a bit of a lull. The issue is they just can't seem to get on the ball with Brazil playing quite selfishly in that regard. The hosts are hardly relinquishing possession.
23'
Brazil are suffocating Peru as they pass it around in midfield, essentially playing keep-away. They're looking to force Peru to press and pull them out of their shape in the process.
21'
Everton's goal has really helped settle Brazil down. They're looking a lot more comfortable on the ball, with Peru somewhat rattled. The visitors are coming off a bit frantic as they have to play catch-up. They did beat Bolivia earlier in the tournament despite conceding first, though Brazil are an entirely different monster.
19'
That's a tough blow for Peru, who had shown no signs of cracking up to the point of conceding. Advincula got pulled too far inside as everyone gravitated towards Guerrero, and now Peru have it all to do.
15'
Everton has scored a goal for Brazil! Assist by Gabriel Jesus.
Delicious cross from Jesus to float that delivery over everyone's head and pick out an unmarked Everton.
BRAZIL DRAW FIRST BLOOD IN THE FINAL! 1-0! The Maracana is sent into raptures as Brazil convert the first chance of the match! Jesus found space on the right and clipped a lovely delivery in towards the far post where Everton arrived unmarked to smash home a first-time finish!
13'
It's all very patient from Brazil in possession. They're not attacking with any urgency as of yet, looking to get a feel of how Peru are going to defend. So far the hosts have been content knocking it about, waiting for Peru to press to win it back.
11'
For the first time, Brazil get forward with a bit of intent. They work it around cleverly on the fringes of the final third, but there's no way through for them at the moment. Peru have done well to settle into their defensive shape.
9'
These two sides are really feeling each other out in the opening stages. There's not been a ton of pace to speak of, with Brazil yet to really get out of first gear.
5'
Well despite the majority of the supporters in attendance cheering Brazil forward, it's Peru who have been the brighter of the two sides to start. They certainly look up for the occasion, getting after every ball with real intent as they put some decent pressure on the hosts.
3'
Peru might not have too many chances in this match, so when they do present themselves it's important for them to take advantage. An early handball from Coutinho affords them a free-kick in a dangerous position, but Cueva just misses the far post with his subsequent effort at goal.
1'
AND THEY'RE OFF! Peru get the match underway in their white kits with that red stripe across their chest and back. Brazil are in their yellow tops with blue shorts.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the 2019 Copa America final as hosts Brazil take on Peru at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro!
It was nearly 40 years ago to the day when Romario scored for Brazil in a 1-0 win over Uruguay as there were crowned South American champions at the Maracana – the last time they hosted the tournament.
Brazil were odds-on favourites to win the tournament at its onset a little over three weeks ago, and that holds true ahead of the final as the hosts are now just one win away from their first Copa America title since 2007, and a first on home soil since 1989.
They will be feeling the pressure to recreate that magic and live up to lofty expectations, while Peru are playing with house money. Regardless of tonight’s result Los Incas can take pride in reaching their first Copa America final since 1975.
That being said, revenge will be on their minds following their 5-0 defeat to Brazil to close out the group stage, which seemed to light a fire under this Peru side who bounced back by shocking Uruguay in the quarters before routing defending champions Chile 3-0 in the semis.
CONFIRMED TEAM NEWS:
BRAZIL (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Dani Alves, Marquinhos, Thiago Silva, Alex Sandro; Arthur, Casemiro; Gabriel Jesus, Philippe Coutinho, Everton; Roberto Firmino.
SUBS: Allan, Filipe Luis, Ederson, Miranda, Richarlison, Fernandinho, Eder Militao, Fagner, Cassio, Willian, Lucas Paqueta, David Neres.
PERU (4-2-3-1): Pedro Gallese; Luis Advincula, Carlos Zambrano, Luis Abram, Miguel Trauco; Renato Tapia, Yoshimar Yotun; Andre Carrillo, Christian Cueva, Edison Flores; Paolo Guerrero.
SUBS: Patricio Alvarez, Carlos Caceda, Cristofer Gonzales, Josepmir Ballon, Jesus Pretell, Anderson Santamaria, Alexander Callens, Miguel Araujo, Raul Ruidiaz, Andy Polo, Aldo Corzo.
It will be interesting to see how Gareca approaches his substitutions in the second half. They've hardly spent any time in attack and that obviously needs to change. Polo could be an option to provide more width on the break, while Ruidiaz could also be a good option to provide Guerrero with a strike partner up top.
That's all for our live coverage, thanks for following along. Goodbye!
