Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between West Ham and Everton at London Stadium.
West Ham begin the contest one place and one point above the relegation zone at the foot of the Premier League. The Hammers suffered a controversial 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United last time out as Declan Rice's handball in the build-up cancelled out Robert Snodgrass' late leveller. Rice was furious to say the least with the VAR decision, but it did not change the result and it leaves the club in dire need of a response this afternoon. They crushed Bournemouth 4-0 last time out on home soil in David Moyes' first game back as manager and he will be hopeful that they can produce a similar performance against one of his old teams.
Everton continue their solid form since the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti with a win over Brighton and Hove Albion last time out. Richarlison scored the only goal of the game to lift the Toffees up to 11th in the Premier League. The club are not out of contention for a place in Europe next season, but they have to maintain their recent standard of performances. Securing wins on the road will be an important test of their mettle and Ancelotti will be eyeing the second away win of his tenure.
WEST HAM (4-4-1-1): Darren Randolph; Pablo Zabaleta, Issa Diop, Angelo Ogbonna, Aaron Cresswell; Robert Snodgrass, Mark Noble, Declan Rice, Pablo Fornals; Manuel Lanzini; Sebastien Haller.
EVERTON (4-4-2): Jordan Pickford; Seamus Coleman, Yerry Mina, Mason Holgate, Lucas Digne; Theo Walcott, Tom Davies, Fabian Delph, Bernard; Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Moise Kean.
WEST HAM SUBS: Winston Reid, Fabian Balbuena, Goncalo Cardoso, David Martin, Arthur Masuaku, Albian Ajeti, Jeremy Ngakia.
EVERTON SUBS: Leighton Baines, Morgan Schneiderlin, Djibril Sidibe, Maarten Stekelenburg, Oumar Niasse, Lewis Gibson, Anthony Gordon.
West Ham have been lively in the final third and should probably be ahead at half-time. David Moyes will be pleased to see that his side have created opportunities in the final third, but will want to see a clinical edge. Sebastien Haller in particularly has to come to the fore for his team in the second period.
West Ham are away at Leicester City on Wednesday in their next Premier League game, while Everton host Newcastle United on Tuesday.
Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
