The visitors kick us off and we are underway!
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Premier League clash between Southampton and Leicester City at St Mary's Stadium.
The hosts come into this game rock-bottom of the league and desperate for points as they scrap for survival. They are in dismal form with 10 defeats in their last 12 league outings, leaving them four points from safety and in real danger of playing second-tier football next season for the first time since the 2011-12 campaign. Saints' main problem has been their home form, picking up just one win and six points from 11 league matches on their own turf, the worst record in the league by some distance. They will be hoping for a victory here to bounce back from their humiliating midweek defeat to League Two Grimsby Town in the FA Cup.
The visitors are not completely out of the woods themselves in regards to relegation, sat just three points above the drop zone and with three defeats in their last three games in all competitions. The Foxes have been plagued by defensive issues all season, with only Bournemouth conceding more goals in the Premier League than their 42. While they should have enough quality to stave off relegation, they will need to start putting points on the board and quickly if they want to avoid a nervy end to the season.
SOUTHAMPTON (4-4-2): Gavin Bazunu; Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Jan Bednarek, Armel Bella Kotchap, Kyle Walker-Peters; Carlos Alcaraz, James Ward-Prowse, Romeo Lavia, Kamaldeen Sulemana; Che Adams, Theo Walcott.
SUBS: Moussa Djenepo, Mohammed Salisu, Sekou Mara, Willy Caballero, Stuart Armstrong, Mohamed Elyounoussi, Paul Onuachu, Adam Armstrong, Romain Perraud.
LEICESTER CITY (4-2-3-1): Danny Ward; Ricardo Pereira, Harry Souttar, Wout Faes, Timothy Castagne; Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Nampalys Mendy; Mateus Tete, James Maddison, Harvey Barnes; Kelechi Iheanacho.
SUBS: Daniel Iversen, Caglar Soyuncu, Boubakary Soumare, Jamie Vardy, Luke Thomas, Dennis Praet, Patson Daka, Daniel Amartey, Wilfred Ndidi.
The two teams make their way onto the pitch ahead of this vital game at the bottom of the Premier League.
There is a long way to go in this game, but Saints will fancy their chances now of earning a win that will move them off the foot of the table and within a point of safety. Rodgers will be desperate for his team to turn it around to prevent Southampton moving within three points of the Foxes.
Thanks for joining us for live coverage of Southampton's 1-0 Premier League win over Leicester City at St Mary's Stadium.
It is another deeply concerning result for Leicester and Rodgers, who watched his team fail to have a shot on target despite trailing from the 35th minute onwards. They remain just three points above the relegation zone and will need to quickly end this run of three straight Premier League defeats if they are to stave off relegation. For Southampton, that win moves them off the foot of the table and to within a point of safety. They clearly still have much work to do, but that victory could be the catalyst to them securing their place in the top-flight next season.
